Set-up in 2000, Corr & Nyland Building Contractors Ltd has completed civil and corporate building projects all throughout Ireland. Building Ireland caught up with company’s Managing Director, Oliver Corr to learn more about a business which has become renowned for its high standards amongst its clientele.
Business is booming right now at Corr & Nyland Building Contractors Ltd and the plan is to keep things thriving for the company which is fast-approaching two decades.
Based in Lismacaffrey, Co Westmeath, the firm also operates an office from Rathcoole, Co Dublin and sees the majority of their projects based within the capital.
All of the relevant building trades are covered by the in-house workforce at Corr & Nyland and the company is well-known for having a dedicated workforce that operates as a team to produce a very high quality building service.
Oliver Corr is the Managing Director of the business and took time recently to fill Building Ireland in on the origins of this family-run company, along with some of its current projects in and around Dublin.
“We’re established since 2000 and we’ve 25 staff at the moment. I’m the Managing Director and my wife Ena is also a director here,” Oliver outlined.
“I started off in Civil Building & Engineering. I’m originally from Claremorris in Co Mayo and started off their working with my uncle and spent a couple of years as a foreman before I moved on to another company.
“When we started off here we were doing extensions and driveways etc and then we gradually grew into other services. Today we do everything from start to finish up to finished floor levels.
“We’ve our own waste collection permits for all over the country and do some general haulage as well.”
Founded on December 14th, 2000, Corr & Nyland Building Contractors Ltd’s initial services were focused on building repairs and renovations of buildings due to deterioration over time or quality of workmanship.
Those kind of works proved very beneficial to the company moving forward, as high standards of workmanship was central to the daily practice of the business.
Developing from the early stages of remedial works Corr & Nyland steadily progressed into site development, civil works and building works in Westmeath, Dublin and surrounding counties.
Now Corr & Nyland has developed into a contractor which completes works from tender stage to completion, with tender value of works ranging from €20,000 to €2,500,000.
At the moment, the company are involved in a number of different projects – one of them being with long-time clients Liffey Developments, whom have been providing a full range of civil engineering and project management services since 1983.
“Business is good at the moment and hopefully things stay that way for the foreseeable,” beamed Oliver.
“We’re doing a good bit of work for Liffey Developments and we’ve a few on-going projects in Clongriffen (Co Dublin) and Ratoath (Co Meath), so we can’t complain. There’s more in the pipelines too, but I just can’t go into the details at this moment in time.”
The fact that the company provides a full suite of building services to help realise any building project – no matter how big or small – is a another draw for clients and it’s a large part of the reason it has grown to the point where it’s at now.
Services range from demolitions works to site enclosures and plant hire and waste disposal are also part of Corr & Nyland’s repertoire as well.
The expansion continues down in Lismacaffrey, with more trucks being added their fleet and the possibility of more staff coming on board again in 2019.
For Oliver, growth has always been necessary to maintain success and vice-versa.
“Right now we’ve four trucks and a fifth coming at the end of the year,” he explained. “We have five vans and altogether there are 10 diggers here – all different ranges – we’ve a dump truck as well and will be getting another soon.”
Site developments, ground works and drainage works tends to keep machinery busy all year round and one thing Corr & Nyland has repeatedly done for its clientele down through years is fulfil their expectations by offering high quality workmanship and excellent project management.
The company maintains that those two guaranteed qualities cover all elements of the construction process ensuring building works are complete both within budget and on time.
Oliver has always felt that there’s no substitute for high standards when it comes to carrying out work for the clients and it has been the company’s mantra since ‘Day One’.
“I think it comes down to the standard of the work and the fact that we deliver projects on time and within budget,” he said.
“Also, we don’t have to go externally for anything. We even have our own engineer and quantity surveyor here so we don’t have to branch out work to others.”
Indeed Corr & Nyland are now fully experienced in all aspects of the general building industry, including but not limited to, civil construction, commercial building, road construction, public works, drainage works, school construction and residential projects.
