Powderly Construction Ltd is an award-winning heritage contractor with almost 70 years’ experience in building conservation and the restoration of period homes and property.
Based in Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Powderly Construction is a second-generation family business which was founded in 1957 by the late Tommy Powderly. Tommy was a carpenter by trade who worked in Dublin for a large part of his career where he gained valuable experience in building conservation and restoration. He earned an enviable reputation for outstanding workmanship, attention to detail and an ability to bring the past back to life which he passed on to his son Paddy.
Tommy worked extensively on famous local buildings such as Rathaldron Castle in the early 1980s and Ardbraccan House in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Ardbraccan House is a large Palladian house designed by acclaimed architect Richard Cassells whose portfolio also includes Leinster House, the seat of Ireland’s Parliament. Powderly Construction completed the full restoration of the mansion, stables and outbuildings in 2002 which led to it winning the top award from An Taisce for Best Restoration of a private building.
Powderly Construction also received an award from Meath County Council for stonework on the refurbishment of Bellinter House into a luxury spa hotel. Bellinter House is a classic country house of Georgian heritage along the River Boyne in Co. Meath which was also designed by Richard Cassells.
