From humble beginnings in 2005, Riverside Mechanical has grown exponentially by providing a comprehensive service package that is constantly developing and evolving to meet clients’ changing needs. Services provided include the installation of HVAC Systems; Design Development; Automated Control Systems; Fire Prevention; Full Building Services; Energy Management; Asset Management; Facilities and Maintenance Management. Riverside has its own BIM team whose capabilities include Revit MEP coordination, clash detection services, coordination management, Point Cloud to Revit, field verification, asset management and as-built drawings (2D and 3D).

The company offers a complete start-to-finish service package, from pre-award, coordination, installation, commissioning and sign-off, followed by a tailored facilities maintenance and management package. Its facilities and maintenance department, which is managed by Ian Mackenzie and Helen McManus, plays a key role during final phase construction in offering a tailored facilities maintenance package, ensuring the integrity of the equipment during the warranty period.
Riverside were one of the first mechanical companies to be certified to ISO 45001:2018, the new International Standard for Occupational Health & Safety. This is in addition to recertification of its current standards ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
“The ISO 45001:2018 certification was another milestone for our company and is a further example of our continued professional development and acknowledgement of the invaluable commitment from all of our teams,” Managing Director Tony Ptohopoulos says.
Riverside’s inhouse Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental managers are responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the company’s QHSE management system. They ensure quality documentation processes are carried out, compliance with health and safety legislation, and a commitment to reducing its environmental impact, while protecting the wellbeing of its team and ensuring that high standards are maintained.
Riverside has completed many prestigious projects in the greater Dublin area in recent years. These include UCD Belfield student accommodation, incorporating an auditorium, restaurant, retail units, gymnasium, health and wellbeing centre, meeting rooms and office accommodation; National Indoor Arena Phase 1 at the National Sports Campus comprising of a gymnastics and athletics training centre used by Irish sporting bodies and the general public; National Indoor Arena Phase 2 consisting of world-class training facilities designed for the IRFU, GAA and FAI.
Another noteworthy project is the National Forensic Mental Health Hospital, which is an 11-building state-of-the-art facility in Portrane Demesne, North Co. Dublin. Riverside provided mechanical installation services – including chilled water – LPHW system, ventilation – including AHU’s supply and extract fans, air conditioning, building management systems, domestic waters, fire / smoke safety system, chiller plant and water management systems.
Riverside is no stranger to receiving awards. In 2020, at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards, it was awarded the judges’ silver accolade for its work on the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena Phase 1 and 2. At the 2019 Irish Plumbing & Heating Awards, its accolades included Large Contractor of the Year, Commercial Project of the Year (Audi South Sandyford) and Apprentice of the Year. The judges noted the long-standing relationships Riverside has with many of its clients, stating: “You only get high levels of repeat business if you do a great job. To be consistently at the top of your game takes great dedication and professionalism.”
More recently, Riverside were shortlisted for Subcontractor of the Year and Medium Contractor of the Year at the 2021 Fit Out and Plumbing & Heating Awards respectively.
The Dublin firm’s success can be largely attributed to the commitment and professionalism of its valued team, whose health and wellbeing the company is fully committed to.
