Sensori FM has announced a signed agreement as part of a design, build, and maintenance project for seven Community Nursing Units (CNUs), at locations throughout Ireland, under the HIQA compliance programme and through Public Private Partnership (CNU PPP Project).

Sensori FM, as part of the EquiSisk Consortium, will provide a full range of integrated facilities management solutions throughout the nursing units. Sensori FM will be embedded in the units, providing managed services for the HSE on a 24/7 basis, as the custodians of the buildings for the duration of the concession period of 25 years.

All units will be located on existing HSE grounds, in close proximity to existing healthcare premises. A breakdown of the locations is as follows:

  • Killarney – 130 beds, greenfield site in the town
  • Middleton – 50 beds, urban site on an existing HSE campus
  • St Finbarr’s – 105 beds within the existing St Finbarr’s Hospital campus; a two and three-storey precast concrete superstructure and
  • Thomastown – 95 beds, greenfield site adjacent to an existing HSE facility

PJ Coady, Head of PPP Projects at Sensori FM, commented on the announcement: “Sensori FM is delighted to be a part of delivering and maintaining this vital community healthcare project. This is a long-term and prestigious contract to have been awarded and we are committed to collaborating with the consortium partners and delivering these essential services to the HSE. We recognise the importance of these facilities for the local communities and look forward to extending our national reach, recruiting locally, and engaging with supply chain partners in the specific regions”.

Construction by Sisk on five of the facilities will commence before Christmas 2022 (Ardee, Clonmel, Killarney, St Finbarr’s – Cork and Thomastown) and the remaining two (Athlone and Midleton) by early 2023. All facilities are expected to have construction completed by the end of 2024. “This €250m greenfield development project is a design, build, finance, and maintenance project for seven new Community Nursing Units (CMU’s) across Ireland. The project will play a vital part in responding to the challenges of Ireland’s ageing population and is considered a vitally important social and national healthcare project. The project’s aim is to improve access to high-quality elderly and long-term care throughout Ireland, replacing the existing units. This project demonstrates Equitix’s long-term commitment to investment in Ireland,” said Michael McBrearty, Managing Director, Investments at Equitix Limited.
