Operating with three separate branches, SKC Providers Ltd offers a comprehensive selection of quality heating, plumbing and bathroom products to its customers. Building Ireland heard more from company founder and director Shane Connolly recently.
Headquartered in Rathnew, Co Wicklow, SKC Providers Ltd has become a ‘one stop shop’ for all bathroom, heating and plumbing supplies, selling not only to the trade professionals but also to the general public.
The company was founded by Shane Connolly back in 2010 and has since opened two more branches in Leitrim and Wexford.
Each of the branches have showrooms where they have on display an extensive range of bathroom suites, baths, showers, shower trays, shower enclosures, traditional and modern heated towel rails, bathroom furniture, a large variety of taps, bathroom accessories and a comprehensive range of stoves.
SKC Providers Ltd also offers a free delivery service for its customers, operating with a fleet of six vans between all three locations.
It’s all a far cry from when Shane Connolly first started out with just one store in Charvey Lane Industrial Estate back in a time when the Irish construction industry was reeling from the downturn.
Indeed 2018 may have marked the best year yet for SKC Providers Ltd and the man behind it was good enough to take timeout recently and speak to Building Ireland about his now seemingly thriving business venture.
“We started up here in September 2010 and our main office is in Charvey Lane Industrial Estate, Rathnew, Co Wicklow,” Shane outlined.
“In September 2012, we opened up another premises in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and in December 2015 we opened up in Gorey, Co Wexford. We’ve 15 staff between our three locations.
“Basically what we do is supply and stock the full range of heating, plumbing and bathroom materials.”
Being an ideal ‘one stop shop’ for all bathroom, heating and plumbing supplies has been key in the company’s rise these past eight-and-a-half years.
When the business first started up times were difficult in this country but Shane and his team stayed optimistic and remained confident that there was still a niche in the market.
“2010 definitely was a difficult time to set-up in this country but we’ve improving year on year since, so we’re happy with how it has gone so far for us,” said Shane.
Growth year on year have led to the opening of two more locations in Drumshanbo and Gorey and the plan for now is to keep doing what they do best at SKC Providers Ltd…
To be specific, that is to supply and stock the full range of heating and plumbing materials, pipes, fittings, boilers, cylinders, pumps, heating controls, heat pumps, solar hot water systems, underfloor heating, radiators, heated towel rails, stoves etc at very competitive prices.
The company’s showrooms boast an extensive range of bathroom suites, baths, shower trays, shower enclosures and showers.
There’s also a huge range of both traditional and modern radiators, beautiful bathroom furniture, as well as a great variety of taps to choose from when selecting taps for your bathroom plus other bathroom accessories.
If you’re designing and choosing your next bathroom, you will see a large range of all the company’s bathroom products up close by visiting one of the showrooms.
SKC Providers Ltd also has a very comprehensive range of stoves on display in the same showrooms.
So what has been the secret behind the company’s success to date?
For Shane, it’s down to two qualities which have been carried through each and every year since SKC Providers Ltd’s inception.
“We would like to think that we have very competitive prices and a much better service here. I think those are the things that separate us from other competitors out there,” he pointed out.
Going on the evidence of the past couple of years, they’re certainly doing something right at SKC Providers with growth year on year since 2010 and showrooms at three separate locations to boot.
Last year marked one of the company’s best to date with products heading for the capital on practically a daily basis.
“2018 was a very good year business-wise for us and so far the outlook for this year has been quite positive as well,” the Managing Director beamed.
“Dublin is also a very busy market for us but our customers are from all over the country. We’ve six vans on the road now between all locations.
“Obviously, we hope we’ll be up again business-wise in 2019 and January has been an excellent start and start to the year and we are very positive that this trend will continue throughout the year.
“We have a hope to open a fourth premises down the line definitely, we do have a few options in the pipeline but nothing concrete just yet.”
