Based in Buncrana, Co Donegal, Grants Electrical Services Ltd leads the way in electrical contracting in the country’s north west region. Building Ireland touched base with company co-director Steven Grants to learn more about the business, it’s current projects and plans going forward.
These are busy times at Grants Electrical Services Ltd and the plan for brothers and founders Steven and Damien Grant is to try and keep things that way right through to next year.
Established in 2001, the family-run company has grown into a leading registered electrical contracting firm that offers its clients an experienced, skilled, responsive, reliable and competitive service.
Today, Grants Electrical Services Ltd employs nine full-time staff and the founders’ father Martin Grants also plays a role in the business on the administration side.
Building Ireland spoke with Steven Grants recently to find out about the overall state of business for the company and the projects its presently immersed in.
“We’re very busy at the moment and working away on different projects. It’s very busy like,” he outlined
“To be honest, Covid impacted us at the start for a while during the very first lockdown. We done nothing for the first six weeks of the first lockdown but, after that, we gradually got back up going full swing again nearly over a month or two.
“We were doing a lot of work for the County Council and stuff like that was going ahead. The essential stuff, so we’ve been more or less flat out since the first six weeks of the first lockdown that hit.”
As specialists in industrial, domestic and commercial electrical contracting, Grants Electrical Services Ltd guarantees its clients a high-quality service and dedicated customer care at costs you can afford.
By working closely with its clients, the company is able to understand their needs and can tailor its methods and service to suit requirements.
Since ‘Day One’, Grants Electrical Services Ltd has remained committed to helping the client achieve their goals and solve their problems.
They have a skilled and versatile team of professionals that enables the business to provide a wealth of industry experience and expertise.
Grants Electrical Services Ltd is also able to take on contracts of all sizes and has an impressive portfolio of work to its name to date.
Right now, the company is immersed in various projects in and around Co Donegal and currently has six vans on the road to help meet the customer demand.
“We’re doing a lot of social housing at the minute and a lot of Solar PV work as well. It’s all Donegal-based work,” said Steven.
Indeed, the company is well-known throughout the Tir Chonaill County for its work and has delivered numerous excellent projects within its borders over the past two decades.
Having operated as a sole trader six years before becoming a limited company in 2007, Grants Electrical Services Ltd today works in all areas of the electrical industry.
It’s a business which can do everything for the client – from burglar alarm and CCTV systems installation to access control and computer networking.
Above all, the company prides itself on its quality, attention to detail and value-for-money service while also being keen to promote best practice in Health & Safety at all times.
So, all of that considered, the burning question is what has been the secret behind the success of Grants Electrical Services Ltd to date?
How has a small start-up grown into a thriving venture which today operates with an excellent reputation for delivering projects throughout the industrial, domestic and commercial sectors?
For Steven, much of it comes down to the fact that the company is tried and trusted at this stage and that its clients know that they will get the job done right each and every time.
“I’d say our clients choose us because they know they can depend on us to be there and to do a good job,” said the co-director.
“If anything’s not right, we’ll be straight back to sort it out. Reliability would be the main thing with us and if somebody rings the phone looking for us, we’ll always be there for them.”
With that approach, it’s little wonder why the company has had the success it’s had to date.
Looking towards the months ahead for the business, Steven says further growth is certainly a target although getting the right people to add to the team in this point in time has proved to be a bit of a challenge.
“Hopefully, we can continue as we’re going and grow and maybe get new clients along the way,” he said.
“We probably will add a couple more staff later in the year and actually would add one or two at the moment, but it’s just a matter of getting them. Good ones are hard to come find in this line of work.”
Steven and Damien Grant wish to take this chance thank their customers for their continued support and loyalty down through the years.
