Specialising in building brand-new homes from the ground up

9 May , 2024

Based just outside of Midleton, Co Cork, Elite Contracting Design Ltd specialises in the delivery of various construction services for its clients. Building Ireland caught up with company co-founder Frank Flannery to hear more about the services the company provides in new builds, renovations, extensions, garden designs and commercial fit-outs.

These are busy times at Elite Contracting Design and the plan for founders Frank Flannery and Eoin Ivers, along with the rest of the team outside of Midleton is to try and keep things that way right through to 2025.

Established a year-and-a-half ago by business partners Frank and Eoin, the company has quickly grown to become a leader in construction services, which includes delivering new build homes, renovations, extensions, garden designs, commercial fit-outs, turn-key homes and civil works for its clients.

Together, Elite Contracting Design’s founders have a combined 40 years of experience within the industry and have amassed a reputation for delivering high-quality projects.

Building Ireland spoke with Frank Flannery recently to discuss the ins and outs of the business, its projects and overall hopes going forward as a company.

“Elite Contracting is 18 months up and running, I suppose,” stated Frank.

“There were certainly some challenges starting off, but we’ve reached our targets and turned over a lot more than we thought in the first year that we got up and running here.”

Today, the firm employs 10 direct and up to 40 indirect staff and the team located in An Cuinne operates with a major focus on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and, of course, exceptional customer service.

Since ‘Day One’, both Frank and Eoin have been committed to providing clients with the best possible experience from start to finish.

That approach can be traced back to their respective roots, which Frank was good enough to fill us in on some of the details of.

“I would have qualified as a Construction Manager out of Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and I worked for Murphy Construction down in Carrigtwohill as a foreman for two-and-a-half years,” he outlined. “Then I went out self-employed doing exactly what I’m at now except it was on a smaller scale back then.

“Eoin Ivers then is a block layer by trade and he went out on his own for 15-years. He had a masonry business and, in more recent years, he got into the home building, renovations and extensions.

”Right now, the latter three services are very much Elite Contracting Design’s bread and butter.

“We’re specialising in one-off home building, renovations, extensions and we provide turnkey service as well,” said Frank. “We do medium sized commercial work along with community centres and school work. At the moment, we’re working on the Carrigtwohill Community Centre and, after that, the projects that we’re mostly on at the minute are one-off houses.”

He added: “Business is very strong for us at the minute, thankfully. The majority of our bookings are taken for 2024 already. We’re trying to grow the business in east Cork and the city region, so we’re ever hopeful that business will continue to be good for us.”

So, the burning question is, what has been the secret behind Elite Contracting Design’s rapid rise and overall success.

How has a small start-up grown into what is now very much a thriving construction firm that holds a solid reputation for its first-class work amongst clients?

For Frank, it comes down to a combination of different factors but, when the question is put to him, he points to two key components being behind the company’s steady rise over the short span of just 18 months.

“I think it mostly comes down to the fact that our quality of work is very high, we’re very good on time schedules and we are extremely lucky with our team. They’re three things that our clients appreciate about us,” he stated.

Frank and Eoin have always been of the belief that each and every project is unique, and it sees their company working closely alongside clients to ensure their vision is realised.

From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, Elite Contracting Design prides itself on clear communication, transparency, and a commitment to excellence in everything that they do.

So, whether you’re looking to build your dream home, renovate an existing space, or undertake a commercial project, this company has the expertise, experience, and passion to bring their clients’ vision of a project to life.

Indeed, 2024 is set to be another busy year for the Co Cork firm and, all going to plan, it’ll be one where they add to the already much talented team down in An Cuinne.

“We’d hope to expand it and maybe diversify a small bit as well when it comes to renewable energies and we price ourselves on local contractors and providers.”
