Western Building Systems installs Mobi One Combined Timber Frame Assembly Station

19 Sep , 2017

A Northern Irish construction firm has injected £1.6m into its production facilities and workforce to drive GB and ROI market growth in the education, healthcare and housing sectors.

Western Building Systems is one of the UK and Ireland’s leading build solutions providers, specialising in these sectors.

A new 30,000 sq ft factory has been built which includes the installation of a Mobi One Combined Timber Frame Assembly Station.

The latest timber innovation offers new systems for its design, cutting workshop, automation manufacturing of timber panels.

The complete system will accurately position frame components, nail the frame, affix the cladding options and rout out the window and door openings – all at Western’s NI headquarters.

The installation of the Mobi One is complemented by the addition of a new CNC machine for the manufacture of doors and screens. The addition of this latest fully automated technology is designed to minimise waste and increase factory productivity.

As well as investing in production capabilities, Western has also installed a Timber Frame design system, using the latest technology to improve material scheduling, manufacturing drawings and new automated machinery.

The improvements will allow the company to further continue its expansion into the GB/ROI markets and strengthen its outputs – £12m worth of new contracts have already been serviced through the new facility.

Declan McCloskey, Operations Director, Wester Building Systems, said: “The business is thriving and this latest investment is going to propel us into the next stage of growth.

“We’re looking to capitalise on the current build appetite. We have a proven track record in the education and healthcare sectors.

“Housing, also, is presenting a huge opportunity at the minute and our rapid-build solutions are proving popular due to both time and cost savings.

“We’re continually improving how we work and what we offer. The fact we do everything – windows, doors and interiors – as well as the structural frame –  and the fact we do it all offsite is a big plus point for us and something that makes us unique in the eyes of clients.”

Only last year, Western invested in a restructure of its kitchen showroom to showcase new product lines and increase awareness of its onsite interior offering. Specialist design software was also introduced to bring kitchen and bedroom designs to life for customers and creates a 3D true-to-life walk through of the designs.
