20 years and counting for Norry Construction

10 May , 2021

Operating over 20 years, Norry Construction are property developers and building contractors based in Glaslough, Co Monaghan. Building Ireland touched base with Managing Director David Norry recently to learn all about the company, its origins and the state of business at the moment.

No job has ever been too big or too small for Norry Construction down through the years, and perhaps that explains best as to why and how the company is still thriving more than two decades since its inception.

Based in Tiravera, Glaslough, Co Monaghan, Norry Construction provides the Monaghan area with an unmatched service in construction; private dwellings, extensions, renovations and commercial work.

The company has grown exponentially to become a leader in its field and a paradigm for professionalism, quality work and customer satisfaction.

Building Ireland caught up with owner and founder David Norry recently to find out more.

“We’re established 20 years and basically we are a general contractor that carries out commercial and residential projects,” David outlined.

“There’s no job too big and no job too small for us here. No matter how small the job might be, we’ll still price it for the client and work with them to see it completed.”

Norry Construction lets experience, foresight and craftsmanship make the difference on a project.

The company has grown from strength to strength down through the years to the point where it is now one of the most renowned contractors in the Monaghan area when it comes to reliability and quality of work.

David first started out two decades ago, having built his business from the ground up back around the turn of the millennium.

Norry Construction evolved as the years rolled by though and today the company are proud to identify themselves as both property developers and building contractors.

David himself is also proud to confirm that business is going strong at the moment.

“Business is fine right now,” he stated. “It is slowing down slightly with everything that’s going on with Covid but, in saying that, we were very busy for a few months there.

“We’ll be starting new projects in December and January and I suppose we needed a period of a break (during lockdown).

“I’d be surprised if the Covid thing doesn’t affect us a bit more but, right now, I have to say that I’m optimistic enough for the months ahead.”

And why not be optimistic for the future? The company has already come through one economic recession that strung the Irish construction industry back in 2008.

Since the lifting of lockdown on May 18th, Norry Construction has remained busy with projects and the continuing relationships between the company and its suppliers and quality craftsmen reflect very much reflect its commitment to excellence.

All of Norry Construction’s projects are closely supervised by experienced management.

The Norry Construction formula results in exemplary work that is completed according to schedule and within budget.

The projects keep on coming for Barry and his team too.

“We’ve done projects in Dublin and Belfast before, but the majority of the work that we do is all around Monaghan.”

As aforementioned, the company boasts a glowing reputation around the Farney County and intends to keep that reputation via delivering excellent projects time and time again.

But what has been the secret to the success for Norry Construction over these past two decades?

For David, the ability to retain repeat business down through the years has been a huge factor.

“People tend to come back to us after we’ve completed a project for them,” the Co Monaghan native outlined.

“At the minute we are doing a school that was built back in 1958 and turning it into a zero-carbon home.

“The way we got that job was that we had previously done work for that family.”

He added: “I genuinely care. I know that sounds like a cliché but I do.”

Looking towards the coming months in what are uncertain times for businesses in this country – and indeed worldwide – Norry Construction’s Managing Director is hoping for one thing above all else.

“In one word; stability,” he stated plainly.

“That we can keep the whole thing going on and that Covid doesn’t have too much of an affect on us.

“We’ve been through the recession and during it we never missed a day between schools projects and work for the health board.

“Our rates were definitely down back then – everyone’s were – but we got through it and, please God, we’ll get through this.”

Hear, hear.
