Exemplary workmanship the key at David Moore Electrical Services

21 Jan , 2025

Backed by a quarter of a century’s experience of delivering industry-leading electrical installations that invariably exceed customer expectations, David Moore Electrical Services has developed organically into one of Ireland’s premier commercial electrical fit out specialists.

Exceptional workmanship and absolute customer satisfaction are the hallmarks of David Moore Electrical Services, a Dublin-based electrical contracting company with an outstanding track record for consistently delivering outstanding projects.

Having successfully completed more than 500 projects over the past 25 years, DMES has accumulated vast experience of all aspects of electrical contracting and the trusty 20-strong team – comprising 15 engineers and 5 girls in the office – are in big demand right now, with office fit-outs, social housing and large commercial projects accounting for the majority of the current workload. Despite the impressive growth being recorded by DMES over the past five years in particular, hands-on founder and proprietor David Moore is keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground. No matter how big David Moore Electrical Services grows, no job will ever be considered too small or insignificant and the focus will always remain on achieving complete customer satisfaction through the meticulous delivery of a prompt, professional and premium one-stop-shop service, with a personal touch guaranteed and rigorous quality control adhered to from start to finish.

Contemplating the many strengths of the company he built up from scratch, David is quick to acknowledge and commend the excellent team he has assembled around him: “It all comes down to the team so we make sure we have the right people in place and that the engineers and apprentices alike are fully trained and upskilled, that we always have capable bodies on site.

“I personally oversee every project myself and am available on the phone 24.7 because in this line of work you have to be there for your customers.”

Since inception, David has placed a keen emphasis on bringing through apprentices and this approach has served DMES well. “I find that it’s better to bring through your own talent wherever possible and give them a good grounding in the industry and the standards of workmanship we expect.

“A couple of the apprentices who came through our in-house apprenticeship programme are still with us, including Shane and Paul who are my main men, and we have three apprentices on board at present who are all great lads – Ger O’Tiernan Byrne, Shane O’Neill and Gerard Callan. They are all brilliant.

“When we get a good one, we grab them and grip them. They get their tools on the first day and they are all amazing. I’m very lucky to have a great team across the board. It took about 20 years to get to this stage but we are here now and I can depend on every one of them.”

Some recently-completed projects include a commercial data centre for Facebook working for Roccul, a commercial office fit out for Grandthorntons working alongside XL Mechanical, the complete fit out of a new housing estate in Dalkey, a commercial warehouse on Oak Road for Roccul

/ Module Group and further warehouses at Airways and HC 21 for Connelly Contracts / Module Group and Roccul / Module Group respectively.

David Moore Electrical Services also work regularly on social housing schemes for Clúid, including recent developments in Drogheda and Blanchardstown.

DMES has the capacity and manpower to complete refrigeration and air-conditioning work but is currently engaged almost exclusively on electrical fit outs. They can provide mechanical services also, if required.

“I started off with just myself and one apprentice with one van between us,” the eponymous proprietor recalls. “In the early days, I was subcontracted to Cross Refrigeration working at Tesco and Dunnes Stores. Gradually, we got more and more into fit outs and the business has kept growing.

From working on €20,00 projects, we started to get €500,000 projects. This came through word of mouth and customer satisfaction; we have never had to advertise.

“I got my big break when Roccul brought me in to do a Facebook fit out after Covid. From there, we started to get more and more large office fit outs and then branched into big commercial units

“At the end of the day, it comes down to customer service. We have grown on the back of the workmanship we provide rather than advertising or promotion. We always bring the same professionalism, dedication and attention to detail to every job, large or small.

“It’s over the past four or five years that things have really taken off. We’re getting bigger jobs and going to bigger sites but I’ll still do small fit outs or even plugs in a private house. We won’t turn our noses up at any job. We know that we got here by looking after people and that’s what we will continue to do.”
