These are exciting times for Alfa Electrical Ltd who have moved to new and more spacious premises in Ballymount, Dublin 12 and continue to go from strength to strength.
Approaching 20 years in business, Alfa Electrical is a leading provider of electrical services specialising in high-density, multi-occupancy, high-rise commercial and residential developments. Fronted by Brian Moran and Ronan Howard, the Dublin-based company has earned an enviable reputation for delivering exceptional electrical solutions to some of Ireland’s most prominent developers and Tier 1 builders.
At Alfa Electrical, they are committed to excellence and take immense pride in the quality and precision of their work. Since its inception in 2006, the company has grown to employ a dedicated team of 100 skilled professionals who are integral to its continued success. Alfa Electrical’s annual turnover of €12 million reflects its robust industry standing and the trust it has earned in the marketplace.
In the past year, Alfa Electrical have made significant changes to their management structure to support their continued growth and to position themselves for larger, more complex projects in the residential and hospitality sectors. These strategic adjustments allow them to operate with greater efficiency, take on more ambitious projects and further enhance the quality of service they provide to their clients.
Alfa Electrical has established a trusted reputation within Ireland’s residential and hospitality construction sectors, known for consistently delivering high-quality electrical installations on schedule and within budget. Their team has extensive experience collaborating with engineering consultants, architects and main contractors, ensuring a smooth and coordinated approach from pre-construction through to final handover.
The contractor believes that the success of every project is rooted in strong communication, mutual respect and proactive problem-solving among all stakeholders. This collaborative mindset, combined with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, has allowed it to contribute to the delivery of some of the country’s most notable residential developments and hospitality venues.
Staff development is a core pillar of Alfa Electrical’s business. They believe in fostering a culture of continuous learning and career progression, ensuring that their team members grow alongside the company. To this end, Alfa Electrical is in the process of incorporating a purpose-built training centre into their new Ballymount premises to develop and nurture the next generation of electricians. They hope to have this up-and-running in the coming months.
“The better the apprentices are, the better Alfa Electrical is,” joint-founder and managing director Brian Moran says.
“The new training centre will give our apprentices a broader knowledge of the industry and will make us a better company for it. We have always placed a strong emphasis on training because, at the end of the day, our people are our greatest asset. We’re currently supporting project manager Paul Moran (Brian’s brother) and supervisor Jonathan Collins with their BSc in Construction Management courses in Waterford SETU, while another one of our project managers, Dan Breen, has completed the course, and has been awarded with his degree.
“Our team of highly-skilled project managers, supervisors, junior supervisors, electricians, apprentice electricians, office staff and subcontractors are dedicated to providing innovative solutions, reliable installations and superior customer service.
“Furthermore, we’ve introduced an employment assistance programme which is a counselling service supporting staff with work-related or personal problems. We want our team to be happy and content, and to have a decent work-life balance.”
Beyond their work in the industry, Alfa Electrical are passionate about giving back to the community. Over the past four years, they have proudly raised well in excess of €50,000 for the Jack & Jill Foundation and Rainbows Ireland, supporting vital services for children and families in need. Additionally, they are the main sponsor of the St Jude’s GAA Youth Academy, a role they have proudly held for the last eight years, helping to develop and bring through young athletes in their local community.
“At Alfa Electrical, community and connection are at the heart of everything we do — and our annual golf events are a proud reflection of that,” Brian continues.
“For the past five years, we’ve hosted a Golf Classic at Newlands Golf Club in memory of Susan Gordon, the late partner of our co-founder and co-managing director, Ronan Howard. The event honours Susan’s memory and raises vital funds for the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation. In recent years, we’ve also extended our support to include Rainbows Ireland, a charity providing support to children coping with bereavement and parental separation.
“This year, we’re also proud to announce the return of the Sean O’Donnell Memorial Golf Classic, taking place on Friday, September 5th, again at Newlands Golf Club. The event celebrates the life of our much-missed financial controller, Sean O’Donnell, who sadly passed away in 2020. The winning team will receive the Sean O’Donnell Memorial Cup, a lasting tribute to a colleague and friend remembered with deep respect.
“Both events are expertly organised by our office manager, Geraldine Durkan, and continue to enjoy incredible support from our clients, suppliers and wider network. We’re especially grateful to M&J Electronics, one of our long-standing partners, for sponsoring this year’s Golf Classic — which is shaping up to be our biggest and most memorable yet.
“We are also honoured to sponsor the St Jude’s GAA Youth Academy which our kids are a part of. My father Charles was a founder member of the club and Ronan (Howard) is still lining out for the junior ‘B’ footballers at the age of 45. St Jude’s is a big part of Alfa Electrical.”
