These are exciting times for Castle Modular which is a leading name in the design, manufacture and delivery of modular units for the ever-growing off-site construction market.
Castle Group is a pioneering fit-out and OSM construction company comprising Castle Fit-Out, Castle Modular, Castle LSI Spaces, and Castle Facilities. Its expertise, delivered through four interconnected business divisions, spans a wide range of industry sectors — including life sciences, commercial, digital infrastructure, healthcare, education, hospitality, and the public sector.
Part of Castle Group – which celebrated 25 years in business in 2024 and is dedicated to delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable solutions to national and international markets — Castle Modular is constantly evolving, supplying E-Pods, TER rooms, Modular Security Guardhouses, Multi-Unit Volumetric Modular spaces, and entire multi-storey modular buildings across a wide range of sectors. As the MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) industry expands, so too does Castle Modular.
In recent years, the award-winning company’s workforce has grown to over 120 people. It has also doubled its production capacity with the opening of a second facility at its site in Gort, and a third facility at the planning stage.
Castle’s OSM (Off-Site Manufacturing) products are designed to meet client specifications, locally sourced, produced with minimal waste, manufactured to the highest industry standards, and assembled on-site to align seamlessly with construction timelines.
“The MMC industry is expanding rapidly and we’re leading the way in that regard,” Castle Modular General Manager Eoin Waldron says.
“We’re currently heavily involved in the pharmaceutical and data centres sectors in Ireland, the UK and Europe to which we supply critical infrastructure such as TER (Telecom Equipment Room) and IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) rooms. These are high-spec hubs designed for managing communications and data for business critical functions.
“The residential sector isn’t as buoyant at the moment, but we foresee that changing in 2026 and beyond. In the short-term, our main focus will continue to be on the pharmaceutical and data centres sectors. In the medium-to-long term, however, we expect modular social housing to become a big thing for us. To this end, we’re currently engaged in pilot projects with two local authorities.
“We’re also involved in the healthcare and education sectors, and recently completed a project with Sisk to design, manufacture and install 97 modular bathroom pods and 2D modular infill panels (SFS infill panels) to support the external façade finishes at the Bons Secours Hospital in Limerick.
“The work varies all the time which means you have to be agile and flexible.”
Castle Modular is continuing its sustainability drive with a number of initiatives. In 2022, the company set itself a target of reducing waste to landfill by 20%, material (structural steel) by 60% and electricity usage from the National Grid by 80% to become a more sustainable business
The three R’s of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle became the mantra. The purchase of a CNC machine with associated software enabled Castle Modular to reduce the waste on plasterboards, timber and cement boards, while also speeding up its processes.
Castle Modular also re-sequenced its manufacturing processes to ensure that all waste packaging is removed at a single location in its factory workflow. This ensures that all material sent out on the floor is ready for use. The process ensures that the packaging is filtered out by the process rather than relying on multiples or individuals.
Across Castle Group, health, safety, and wellbeing are not just priorities — they form the foundation of the organisation’s culture. Guided by its core philosophy, “A Mindset for Sustainable Partnerships,” the Group applies this ethos to how it delivers projects, leads teams, and supports its people.
Castle Group recognises that genuine wellbeing extends far beyond day-to-day operations. In 2025, the company formalised a comprehensive Promotion, Prevention and Intervention framework to support employees at every stage of their wellbeing journey.
To promote positive health and prevent issues before they arise, Castle Group has developed a distinctive company-wide initiative that encourages collective activity and inclusion across all teams – regardless of age, role, or location. Through flexible participation ‘silos’, employees can get involved at their own pace, whether trying something new or maintaining a weekly routine, with all costs fully covered by the Galway-based firm. Activities include yoga, spinning, running, golf, tag rugby, and padel, all of which help strengthen physical health, social connection and team cohesion. Monthly group events – such as run clubs, cycles, walks, and hikes – bring together employees from all cultural backgrounds and divisions, reinforcing a sense of belonging across the Group, with annual excursions such as Walking the Camino de Santiago in 2024, Cycling Inis Mór in 2025, and recently completing the challenge of cycling the Pyrenees Mountains.
In addition to its preventative focus, Castle Group introduced an external support pathway in 2025. Through this programme, employees can access up to 10 fully funded sessions with a qualified psychologist, counsellor or mental health professional of their choice. This ensures that, when employees need confidential, professional support, it is accessible, stigma-free and fully backed by the organisation.
Complementing its wellbeing initiatives, the Group’s Safety Management System (SMS) is aligned with ISO 45001 and fully integrated into every stage of operations — from design and procurement through to project delivery and handover. This structured framework supports proactive risk management, continuous training, regular auditing, and ongoing improvement, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for everyone.
Senior leadership plays a visible and active role in driving safety across all sites and departments. Regular safety walks, open forums and site engagement days ensure communication flows both ways, between management and their teams on the ground. Health, safety and wellbeing performance is discussed at board level each week and forms part of individual KPIs, ensuring accountability and continual improvement at every level of the company.
Driven by a commitment to smart, efficient, and sustainable delivery, Castle Group leverages modern construction methods, deep technical expertise, and close collaboration between its Fit-Out and OSM divisions to achieve consistently high-quality outcomes across every project.
This integrated approach was recently demonstrated on a major project for a leading pharmaceutical client, where Castle Group delivered over €8 million in TER rooms and fit-out works. By combining off-site manufacturing with on-site delivery, both elements of the project progressed concurrently – reducing programme duration while maintaining uncompromising standards of quality, safety, and performance.
This joint capability is one of Castle Group’s key differentiators. It enables projects to be delivered faster and more efficiently, without sacrificing precision or sustainability. The result is a seamlessly executed solution that exemplifies excellence in design, collaboration, and modern construction – setting a benchmark for MMC-integrated fit-out delivery.
As Castle Group and its four divisions continue to expand internationally, the organisation remains focused on building strong, long-term partnerships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring trust, transparency, and shared success across every engagement.
