Since the end of the latest recession, cost has become more of a focus for clients, although standards have not been allowed to drop and for the service provider, it is a new challenge that has to be met.
One company that has always prided itself on ensuring that the end-user is always satisfied by the cost and quality of the project is Kildare based Galileo Energy Services.
Established in 2010, this Building Services Engineering Consultancy firm provides a wide range of service to an ever-increasing customer base.
The company has established itself as a leading multi-disciplined projects company who have gained significant experience across a wide range of business sectors.
Advancing technologies have brought about many changes in the industry and companies have evolved in keeping with these advancements.
The company has experience in both design and project management and is able to undertake complete management of any project from initial planning, design and estimation through to completion.
Galileo’s services include Mechanical Services Design, Electrical Services Design, Energy Consultancy, Dynamic modelling and thermal simulations, daylight simulations, Project Management, Project Supervisor Design Process, Condition Surveys, Inspection Reports, Emergency and Summer Works Applications.
Company Director Gerd Benndorf spoke to Building Ireland about the services that they provide and what the aim for their future is.
“We offer our clients a full range of mechanical, electrical and maintenance services including engineering, project management, Design & Build and On-Site Management,” said Gerd.
“Every aspect of the business has grown over the years and so too has the confidence in our ability to deliver a top quality service to our customer base every time.”
Galileo employ six people all of who are highly skilled and experienced in their individual roles.
Their experienced team are long term direct employees who manage projects on behalf of our clients to the strictest codes of integrity and professionalism and Gerd revealed that they are very fortunate on this front.
“We are committed to continuous improvement together with ongoing training at all levels keeps us at the forefront of the latest technology and management techniques.
“The experience that we have gathered over the years has allowed us to offer an efficient service at competitive prices. Our customer base includes some of the top architects and building firms in Ireland and we would do a lot of repeat business for them.”
Galileo Energy Services provide work in the public and private sectors, education, hospitality, leisure, commercial and industrial segments.
The aim of the company is to provide optimum customer satisfaction in all aspects of their business, from service calls to contract projects using continuous communication and technical expertise.
The design of electrical services, lighting and emergency Lighting, Fire Alarm Systems, Power and General Services IT/Data Systems, Intruder alarm, CCTV Systems as well as Heating, Ventilation, and Water Services are all part of the work provided by Galileo.
“I find it very interesting in every project to make it as cost efficient as possible. I would be passionate about ensuring the client gets the best price possible.
“Cost saving measures are something that can be worked out once the thought is put into a project. Energy efficiency and finding the simple solution are great ways of saving money without reducing the quality of the work.
One of my main focus points for every project is the life cycle cost, which is made of initial capital installation, maintenance, fuel costs and final disposal. If one looks at the breakdown it can be seen that the fuel costs are quite often way higher than the installation costs.”
Galileo Energy Services are very much a nationwide firm and although the majority of their work is centred in or around Dublin, they are working on projects in Limerick (UL), Lifestyle Sports (Cork), which is the biggest in the country.
The company has certain guidelines for ensuring quality, programme and budget.
“Each project will be resourced as required to ensure swift progress throughout the design and construction phase. Tender documents shall be completed in every detail before they are issued to the tendering contractors in order to avoid delays and compensation events later in the project. Regular site inspections shall be carried out to monitor the quality of the installation.”
Due to the extremely short timeframe on most projects, communication between the client, end-user, contractor and consultant must be swift and efficient.
Health and Safety is an area that the team at Galileo provide great attention to detail and every detail is processed to make sure there is nothing left to chance.
The German native who has resided in Ireland over 20 years now admits that working in a small industry is greatly rewarded in this country.
“There is a small market in Ireland compared to the likes of Germany and if you do the job correctly, you will be rewarded for it as your reputation begins to precede you.
“We are fortunate to have been able to work on some exclusive projects in the last few years and our clients have been very happy with our work. We have no plans to expand in the short term future and we are happy with the workload that we have on at the moment.”
