If you are looking for an electrical contractor that is professional and courteous, will arrive at the time agreed and always clear up once the work is completed, then look no further than the award-winning Stephen Crean Electrical of Room to Improve fame.
Set up to recognise the high levels of excellence from all in the industry, the inaugural Ireland’s National Electrical Awards took place at the Mansion House in Dublin on Friday, May 11 last. It was a night that the team behind Stephen Crean Electrical won’t forget in a hurry.
Shortlisted for no less than four awards, the progressive Wexford based company was highly commended in both the ‘Electrical Contractor of the Year (Small)’ and ‘Domestic Electrical Project of the Year’ categories.
“Our success on the night came as a great surprise to us all as we weren’t expecting it,” Managing Director Stephen enthused when speaking to Building Ireland. “We were naturally delighted and it was very prestigious recognition for the company.
“We submitted six entries altogether and were also shortlisted in the ‘Commercial Electrical Project of the Year’ and ‘Apprentice of the Year’ categories.”
Not bad going for a company that is only four years in existence!
Stephen established Stephen Crean Electrical in 2014 and is assisted in the day-to-day running of the business by his wife Hannah, who is also a director. They have seven highly-skilled employees on their payroll who Stephen describes as “essential to the smooth running of the business”.
Safe Electric and RECI certified, the company caters for all electrical needs; domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural.
In relation to the ‘Domestic Electrical Project of the Year’, they were highly commended for work they carried out on an extension to a 1950s semi-detached home in North Dublin which also featured on RTE’s ‘Room to Improve’ programme with Dermot Bannon.
Entries were judged on a presentation of how an electrical contractor worked positively on a new build or retrofit domestic electrical project to deliver high standards and meet strict deadlines.
“It was our first job for builder JW Construction which are based in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath,” Stephen recalled. “We got to meet Dermot Bannon and it was great opportunity work alongside such a renowned architect. Completed in March, it was a nice project overall and the clients were lovely people to deal with.”
A project they carried out on behalf of the Talbot Hotel Group in the 4-Star Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, County Cork formed the basis of their submission for the ‘Commercial Electrical Project of the Year’ accolade.
“We completed an electrical fit-out on a big extension to the hotel,” Stephen remarked.
In light of the recognition they received on the night of the awards, it should come as no surprise to learn that Stephen Crean Electrical’s services are very much in demand at this point in time.
“Business is going very well at the moment, we’re on the rise every year and expanding our workforce. I started out with just myself and have grown from there. We’re currently working on a shop fit-out for Carraig Donn and have several houses on the go. We also do maintenance for the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board on schools in Wexford and we’re busy with that during the summer months. We cover from Dublin right down to Cork.”
So, what are the secrets of Stephen Crean Electrical’s success?
“Offering good quality work at a reasonable price and a speedy turnaround,” Wexford native Stephen answered. “The company was only set up four years ago but already there has been massive changes. We’ve gone from small jobs to full shop fit-outs and working with the likes of Carraig Donn and the Talbot Hotel Group.”
Stephen Crean Electrical’s team of electricians have vast experience carrying out domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural works from inception to completion and, as a consequence, the progress enjoyed by the company to date shows no sign of abating.
“We’re looking forward to the future and expanding further. We aim to get new customers on board and building up good relationships with them,” he concluded.
