With offices in Newry and Balbriggan, Demac Construction is a one stop shop when it comes to construction services. Under the guidance of directors JP McGeough and Damien Devlin, the company boasts a proud track record of satisfying their clients’ requirements.
Demac Construction Ltd has established an enviable reputation as a company that can be trusted when it comes to refurbishment, fit-out and new build as well as wide range of specialist services.
That’s why Monaghan County Council awarded them the contract to carry out a €1.25m extension on Monaghan Town Hall Building which is located on Dublin Street.
The works involved the renovation and restoration of the protected structure, the demolition of the 1929 rear extensions to the original structure and the erection of a new single and 2 storey extension of office accommodation measuring 328m2.
The development involved the demolition of an existing single storey extension to the ground and replacement with a three storey modern extension.
The existing building was modified to suit the new design layout, with all necessary fire proofing and upgrading works; minimalist decoration; the basement was treated; the buildings roof structure partially replaced and finishes removed, replaced with both new and salvaged, timber treatment to all exposed timber work.
Rot, fungal and damp proofing treatment to affected areas were improved while all completions and finishes were modelled on original design and character. In addition, full removal and replacement of existing electrical installations were completed in line with electrical drawings and specification.
The extension was traditionally constructed on trench fill foundations, with block and precast floors and roof with all new siteworks and services.
Works commenced in November 2018 and the completed project was handed over in November just gone.
“We’ve also successfully completed a job at St Louis Secondary School in Monaghan town this year, a new teaching block, while we are currently working on a housing project for Cluid Housing, an apartment block in Ballymun,” explained JP McGeough who set up the company along with his fellow director, Damien Devlin.
“We are also on a job on Dawson Street in Dublin, the restoration of a listed building which is being converted into a bar and restaurant, The Coach House, as well as a large scale 70-unit housing development in Comber, Co Down and a refurbishment project for the Salvation Army in Belfast.”
It will come as no surprise to anyone who has come across Demac Construction in the past to learn that their services are very much in demand at this point in time.
Regarded as an innovative, forward thinking company with the flexibility to undertake all types of construction projects, their list of satisfied customers also includes the likes of the Department of Education & Skills, St Vincent de Paul, Deutsche Bank (Dublin), the HSE, Fingal County Council and West Pharma, to name but a few.
Whether they are working on smaller scale bespoke projects or large-scale developments, their emphasis is always on setting the standard for construction services nationally.
Integral to this is their commitment to consistency which helps them deliver the desired outcomes for their customers, regardless of their building type, location or the sector in which they operate.
At Demac Construction Limited, they understand a company’s desire to develop their corporate image and structure and they will guide, support and sustain your company’s commitment to achieve this vision both on time and within budget.
“Both myself and Damien are very hands-on when it comes to the projects we work on,” JP outlined. “Our clients don’t have to go through layers of management – they get to talk direct to the company’s directors at all times.”
Demac are able to operate with competence and confidence, knowing that they have the management and subcontracting resources capable of undertaking new-build residential, commercial, industrial, conservation or mixed-use developments.
“Our order book is quite healthy for 2020 and we have another residential scheme due to start in north Dublin shortly. Basically, there’s a 50/50 split between projects we carry out in the north and along the eastern seaboard.
“We are a growing company and we hope to continue growing in the right way, achieving sustained growth from year to year,” JP concluded.
