Headquartered in Drumlish, Co Leitrim, Green Air Technologies specialises in building energy efficient homes for its clients. Building Ireland touched base with its founder Fintan Kearns recently to learn all about what is a unique business situated in the west of the country.
Business has been “pretty good” these past 12 months for Green Air Technologies, according to Fintan Kearns, and the plan is to try and keep things that way right through 2021.
Operating with seven-full-time staff, the company has offices in Drumlish, Co Leitrim and Brooks Business Centre in Finisklin, Co Sligo.
Green Air Technologies has become known for its building services in Sligo, carrying out various projects throughout the Yeats County (and its borders) over the past decade or so.
Building Ireland caught up with Fintan Kearns to find out more about this thriving business and some of the projects it has on-going at the present time.
“Green Air Technologies has been established since 2008 and we have seven staff working here at the minute,” he explained.
“Our game here is retro-fitting and renovating houses and our process is simple from start to finish.”
Since ‘Day One’, Fintan has always believed that with good planning and coordination a build will run smoothly and efficiently.
The foundation of Green Air Technologies’ success lies in a commitment and understanding to meeting clients’ every need and the company uses high quality materials and the best staff to ensure a home or project is finished to the highest of standards.
The origins of the business date back to the time Fintan had spent in the UK gaining invaluable experience in the industry.
“I’ve always had an interest in construction and had worked in the construction sector before setting up this business,” he said.
“I’m Irish born and went over to the UK, worked and when I came back home, I started the business that I have today.
“The recession did hit us at the start but we weathered it out and, thankfully, today things are good and we are busy.”
In conjunction with SEAI and other service providers, Green Air Technologies have completed numerous deep retrofit grant aided jobs to date.
2020 has certainly had its challenges but overall business has been steady, going by what Fintan has to say, and he’s confident for the year ahead as well.
“Business has been pretty good this year and we’re looking good for 2021,” he said.
“We work for County Councils and other state bodies, but we also work for private people as well and I think the personal touch we provide has aided us greatly along the way.”
The proof is in the projects the company has carried out to date.
Green Air Technologies has extensive experience in extensions and renovations and can offer great advice on the possibilities of improving what you already have.
Right now, the company is working on an extension project which is set to carry it into next Spring.
“We’re just after starting a project in Hill Street in Roscommon which is getting an extension,” said Fintan.
“We’ll be on that from start to finish and it will take us into March/April, so it’ll be a focus for the next couple of months.”
So, what has the secret to success been for Green Air Technologies over the past dozen years?
For Fintan, he feels that the range of services that they provide clients – whether it be new builds, extensions, renovations, deep retrofit or renewable packages – goes a long way in this line of work.
“I think it’s because we deliver everything for them,” he stated plainly.
“We do the full package for them. Usually, they come to us with plans and we look at how we can make it better for them. We now have customers that come to us.”
Indeed, Green Air Technologies is very much a one-stop shop that will work alongside clients and carry out all of their renewable works ensuring they comply with regulations and that your dwellings hit the desired BER targets.
As the projects keep rolling in, the company continues to grow at a steady rate and it’s something which Fintan himself would have surely envisioned when he first set-up shop in Rountrees House.
Even in these unprecedented times, the Co Leitrim native is optimistic as ever about the months ahead for the business.
“As long as Covid doesn’t do us too much damage, we would expect to be up in 2021.
“We were closed for weeks and months last Spring, but we have been busy ever since reopening and hopefully that will continue,” he concluded.
