Established in 2012, Martin Reddin Ltd is a renowned experienced and professional construction company operating out of Portlaoise. Building Ireland touched base with the man himself to learn all about the ins and outs of this firm, its current projects, and the state of business at the minute.
These are busy times at Martin Reddin Ltd and the plan for its namesake Managing Director and the rest of the team in MRL Portlaoise is to try and keep things that way right through to next year.
With approximately 30 direct staff employed, the company’s past projects have seen it working with some of the most well-known names in both Ireland and the UK.
Among these include Irish Rail, the Department of Education, Allied Irish Bank, the HSE, Glanbia, Lidl and McDonald’s Restaurants UK & Ireland.
Building Ireland caught up with Martin Reddin to discuss the projects his business is currently immersed in and its overall hopes moving forward.
“Business has been good recently and, thankfully, we’re busy here at the moment,” he outlined.
“We have a lot of projects on the go now and we are very busy, this is exactly where we want to be.
“All of our projects are varied and complex.”
More than a decade on from its inception, Martin Reddin Ltd now stands as a construction company which is renowned for delivering excellent services to its clients which cater to their specific project needs and management requirements, and all at the most competitive rates.
It’s team of fully certified professionals tackle everything from complex large projects to smaller scale jobs and the company motto itself is ‘Building on Experience’, which is not just a catch phrase as Martin himself has always been personally committed to achieving excellence on his company’s finished product.
It’s a business which has substantial expertise in delivering large-scale projects on time and on budget and that has a reputation for solving problems on site to ensure that this is carried out every time.
In more recent times, the Covid-19 pandemic brought about its own issues for firms like Martin Reddin Ltd but, through its strong working relationship with the HSE, it remained busy with essential works.
Nowadays, the company continues to work alongside the HSE and its other blue-chip clients throughout the country delivering projects, as Martin himself explained.
“We have just completed works
in the Psychiatric Unit in Portlaoise Hospital and it was a very complex project,” said the MD.
“It was phased project and managed access inside in a live unit, as you can imagine, it was challenging project logistically.
“Another project we are completing at this time is a site with a fit-out of an office building for AXA DAC. This project is in the city centre, Dublin, which involves a full strip out and full revamp of a floor of an office building.
“Currently we are working with the Department of Education on their SEN Programme (Special Educational Needs) Modifying and completing full fit out for Special Needs Classrooms.”
He added: “We also recently finished a job for Irish Rail in Portlaoise which was a shed extension to the Sleeper Plant.”
At Martin Reddin Ltd, they endeavour to build lasting working partnerships with clients and a large volume of the company’s work is repeat business.
All of that considered, the burning question is what has been the secret behind the success of the business over the past decade or so?
How has a small start-up grown into a thriving construction venture which holds a golden reputation amongst its clients?
“Our customer base is probably our best form of advertisement,” Martin pointed out.
“It helps to have the clients that we have. We’re constantly working with them and trying to develop that and maintain a good relationship with them, so it’s repeat business that says a lot for our company.”
High standards have always been a clear ambition at Martin Reddin Ltd as well.
It operates business management systems to the highest ISO standards for Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental which are tailored to ensure customer satisfaction, traceability, and transparency.
The list of the ISO standards which the company operates with includes Occupational Health & Safety Management I.S. EN ISO 45001:2018; Quality Management System I.S. EN ISO 9001:2015; Environmental Management; I.S. EN ISO 14001:2015; Safe T Cert SCT – 3101509.
With a core team of seasoned, qualified construction professionals, Martin Reddin Ltd boasts an excellent relationship with an extensive pool of sub-contractors, craftsmen, suppliers, and contract specialists.
They have a proven track record when it comes to delivering large-scale projects within tight timeframes and under demanding deadlines and, of course, fully understand the importance of having the right resources.
Looking towards the months ahead for his business, Martin hopes to add to his excellent team in MRL and continue to keep clients satisfied with first rate work.
“We’re hopeful that we can continue the success at the level we’re at and to continue with our current clients.
“After that, hopefully we can maybe expand the amount of work that we do with those people,” he concluded.
