A different level of quality

14 May , 2021

Trusted by some of Ireland’s largest construction companies, Concept Colours has been leading the way for all other painting and decorating contractors for nearly 20 years.

Established in 2002 by Ger Byrne, Concept Colours had grown to employ 30 people directly and up to 70 on a sub-contract basis. With offices in Enniscorthy and Dublin, the company has become one of the most reputable and trusted by consistently delivering a quality of work that is unsurpassed. Ger is renowned for both his dedication and his ability to manage many large-scale projects at the same time, and ensures they are all finished to the highest possible standards. He spends as much time on site as possible and divides his day between his jobs wherever possible to ensure that his business remains synonymous with high end, professional finishes at the best rates available.

Whether it’s tendering for new contracts or handling site progress claims, Concept Colours’ highly-experienced quantity surveyor will deal with them in a prompt and efficient manner. With a wide range of clients in the industrial, residential and commercial sectors, the company constantly innovates to keep its prices competitive, while never compromising on quality or professionalism.

“We offer quality and quantity at a price that’s right. We bring country prices to an urban environment and will work around the clock if required to ensure that the job is done,” says Ger, whose wife Maura and son Adam are also involved in the business.

“We work for a wide range of clients, including some of the biggest construction firms in the country, and enjoy a terrific relationship with them. The beauty of having so many is that you aren’t reliant on any one client.

“Our team has grown over the years and has played a big part in our success. I’m very hands-on myself and lucky to have such great people around me. We have a very good contracts manager in Paul O’Meara and Jacqui Devereux is a top-class quantity surveyor. Our painters and decorators are highly-skilled and take great pride in their work. It’s a real team effort.”

Concept Colours offers a comprehensive range of services to the industrial, residential and commercial sectors. The main industrial services provided are intumescent coatings, special floor coatings and internal flooring renovations. The contractor can offer intumescent coatings for structural steel, wooden cladding, ornate plaster mouldings and internal woodwork, providing a quality decorative finish while incorporating fire stopping properties. Full certification on all intumescent coatings is provided on completion.

The company has extensive experience in underground car park flooring systems with anti-slip control, and can shotblast and power-grind concrete surfaces in preparation for two-pack coating systems. Line marking, numerals and stencilling are not a problem for its gifted tradesmen, who also have a wealth of experience in the decorative restoration of old-style wooded flooring.

Concept Colours prides itself on being a market leader in residential development decorating, with its team having completed works on all types and sizes of residential developments. The company is big enough to handle any size of development and has a management system in place to ensure multiple sites can be managed effectively and efficiently simultaneously. Concept Colours also has a great name in the commercial sector and has completed works on numerous high-profile and large-scale projects nationwide. It only ever finishes jobs to one standard – absolute perfection.

“We spray out houses with a mist coat to begin with,” Ger replies when asked what methods he uses.

“We allow carpentry to second fix before going back into a house to decorate. We then pre-snag the house and my foreman will ensure that each house is ready for builder’s snag. The final job is to complete the builder’s snag and the client’s punch list.”

The commercial sector is another growth area for Concept Colours who are currently working on projects for Bennett Construction at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay and Beckett-Locke Apart-Hotel, Mac Interiors at Ryanair HQ and Newmarket Square as well as commercial fitouts for CityBuild.
