A leader in specialised electrical engineering and contracting

13 Sep , 2017

Since its inception, CLONCAD has become a partner of choice within the electrical engineering and contracting industry of Ireland. Managing Director John Ryan, Contracts Managers’ Peter Sheridan and Niall Caffrey gave Building Ireland an overview of Cloncad and an insight into the success path to date since its formation.

“In a short period of time, Cloncad has become recognised nationally as a leading provider of specialised electrical engineering and construction services and solutions. Our goal is simple and direct,” John explained, “build projects that we are proud of, remove 100% of the workload from our Clients, provide a quality end product and prove to our Clients that we are the best provider of electrical services and solutions within the market place.

“Our ability to deliver on this statement has been achieved by determination, never ending drive and our team’s ability to work together. Peter and Niall will divulge more into the historical path of Cloncad to date. On behalf of everyone at Cloncad we would like to thank all of our Clients for the platform they provided to date and continue to provide for us to grow year on year.”

Set-up by Tipperary man John Ryan in 2011, Cloncad is 100% Irish owned. It has grown from strength to strength, with the last three years being a real success story in terms of business growth and Client development.

Peter explained: “The successful factor in the ongoing growth of our company has been the appointment of key management personnel allowing each division to expand in line with the natural growth of the company whilst maintaining the simple but fundamental principles we set from inception.”

Operating from their Head Office in Moyvalley, Co Kildare, Cloncad employ more than fifty-five permanent direct staff which is complemented by several specialist vendors across various projects. Since the beginning, Cloncad has had the opportunity to acquire a high level of expertise across a wide range of projects and industries. Their team apply effective management techniques to the planning, design and construction of each project, for the purpose of controlling safety, scheduling, cost and quality.

“We operate under ISO and SafeT, not just to have them but for the process benefits it brings to our day to day operations.”

Niall explains: “We consider our team of staff to be the most important asset in ensuring essential principals are delivered to our Clients. We are proud to say that the core members of our team have been working together since Cloncad was formed.

“We believe that continual up-skilling, training and information sharing is vital to our success and we pride ourselves  on operating one of the best apprentice training programme in Ireland,  insuring the natural growth of our team.”

A testament to the team at Cloncad is that new members seem to join through growth rather than replacement and as an employer it is evident their aim is to provide security and long term employment as a matter of course.

Projects completed to date vary across sectors such as Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Process, Commercial and retail Fit out, Data Centre, Education and Facility maintenance.

Cloncad work for the majority of Ireland’s leading Construction, Consultant  and Architectural firms along with a number of Blue Chip Firms who entrust Cloncad to manage and build their design intents to the high standard they expect. Proof of this ability to delivery is clear from the following Client Testimonial following the completion of a Track and Traceability Project in Sweden.

Subject: Traceability Project Installation, Monday March 03, 2014

I am not a person who is easily impressed, nor am I a person who believes that professionalism in a contractor should be considered a pleasant surprise. With that being said, I was most impressed with John Ryan and his team from Cloncad whom he led during our installation of a full track and trace system our Snus factory at Savsjo, Sweden.   As this installation was very important to our business, the management teams here were concerned that the installation needed to be done with zero negative impact on production and hygiene.   John’s planning prior to and leadership during the event proved decisive in its very effective outcome.   Completed well ahead of schedule and without any problems whatsoever, it was a great relief to have our lines back on in the shortest amount of time possible. It is a testament to John’s professionalism that such an event as a complete installation on 10 multi pack high speed production lines shutdown could go off so smoothly.  Yours sincerely, Lawrence Kiernan, Factory Manager

In addition to providing electrical engineering and contracting solutions Cloncad also provide mechanical, maintenance and technology solutions where their Clients have specific requirements.

So, what is it that attracts Cloncad‘s Clients to them ahead of other competitors?

Niall believes “It comes down to the standard of quality in which the company produces and the ability to schedule workloads in line or surpassing our Client requirements. We promote a can do attitude across our team and this is evident regardless of project value. We talk straight, take an honest and up front approach and find that this gains our Clients trust which is key to delivering a successful project. It is the company’s goal to deliver what we promise and exceed our Client’s expectations and in turn provide a fun, vibrant work place for our staff.”

Cloncad recently appointed David Quinn as their new Business Development Manager in a move to further expand their Client base whilst continuing to successfully deliver for existing customers. David comes out of the engineering and contracting industry having worked in Life Sciences, Heathcare, Mission Critical, Education and Commercial sectors.

From meeting the team at Cloncad, it is clear that nothing short of this is acceptable. With such a mindset in place from the very beginning, it’s simple to see how Cloncad has managed to succeed and grow during one of the toughest periods in the industry and with the upturn clearly on route the years ahead are going to be very exciting for this Moyvalley based firm.
