A Model service every time

28 Oct , 2021

Model Construction Ltd is a leading multi-disciplined construction company serving the greater Dublin area.

Established in 2012 by former Wexford hurler Tomás Waters, the Swords-based contractor offers an unrivalled service in the commercial and residential sectors.

Taking its name from the nickname of the county Tomás represented in senior hurling for seven years, Model Construction offers a wide range of services, including residential refurbishments, renovations, extensions, new build construction, commercial construction, civil works, demolition and maintenance. The company’s aim is to provide a high-quality finish while maintaining excellent customer service.

Superior workmanship, attention to detail, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients to deliver total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Model Construction. Health & Safety is at the core of the business, and never more so than in this COVID-19 age. The company is Safe-T-Cert accredited, which is the safety management system for the construction industry. From concept to completion, Tomás and his team are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs, and that there are no hidden or extra costs involved.

Whether your next project is a new build, extension or refurbishment, Model Construction’s one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from satisfied clients.

“We specialise in everything from groundworks to fitouts,” Tomás says.

“We pride ourselves on providing a complete general contracting service. Being multi-disciplined means that you’re not putting all your eggs into one basket and that every day is a different challenge. I love the variety it brings.”

A carpenter by trade, Tomás employs 16 people directly who are highly-qualified professionals that deliver peace of mind.

“Our team is the most important part of our business. They’re skilled, efficient, professional in their work and committed to delivering complete satisfaction,” he continues.

“We also have a network of sub-contractors with whom we work closely in order to complete works to a high-quality finish. They have been with us for years and are a very important part of the operation. We sub-contract the M&E, painting and block-laying to the same tried and trusted tradesmen. By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with leading design teams and using only the very best building products, we’re able to deliver the highest quality construction to our clients.

“Our success is built on our people. Dedication, professionalism and expert training ensure that our service offerings not only meet, but exceed our customer expectations at all times.”

Model Construction is most active in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. The company has built up a diverse range of experience in the residential sectors, including new builds, home renovations, extensions, conservation and restoration.

The Dublin-based contractor also offers clients a reliable, one-stop fitout and refurbishment solution for commercial, retail, venue and office works. It has a wealth of experience in the fitout sector and prides itself on providing an exceptional interior fitout while operating under strict deadlines, offering competitive pricing and, most importantly, working with minimum disruption to your business or those nearby.

Furthermore, Model Construction provides a facilities management service to commercial clients. It can help with day-to-day maintenance, repair and upgrade works.

The company has an array of machinery and equipment to carry out its own civil works, including excavators, teleporters, dumpers, rollers and boom lifts.

Model Construction boasts an impressive client-base which includes DHL, DPD, Harris Group, Greyhound Recycling, AES and Kildare Village. Thanks to projects which were deemed essential for DHL in Robinhood Road and Swords, and Greyhound Recycling in Clondalkin, it remained operational during the different lockdowns of the past year.

“We’ve done fitouts for AES in Drogheda and Wexford as well as for Kildare Village recently. We also worked on City Quay National School in the Dublin Docklands and have just started a building refurbishment for Bord Na Mona at their HQ in Newbridge. We have completed many pharmacy and office fitouts over the years.”

The affable managing director also excelled on the hurling field before a horrific knee injury he suffered against Clare in 2013 forced him to hang up his hurl at the age of 28 two years later. Despite undergoing five operations and spending 48 days in hospital after complications arose, he faces the prospect of having further surgery.

The former St Martin’s and Wexford full back was nominated for an All-Star award in 2013 and also won senior hurling and intermediate football championship medals with his home club before ending his career in the colours of Dublin club, Na Fianna.

“St Martin’s won the Wexford hurling championship in 2008, but lost three other finals to Oulart The-Ballagh who were very strong at the time. I probably stopped playing hurling at the right time because it was becoming too serious for my liking. The fun element was gone,” he recalls.

Passionate about construction, Tomás would like to take this opportunity to thank his customers, suppliers, architects and engineers for their continued support.
