24 May , 2023

Springridge Construction Ltd is a well-established main contractor specialising in project management, new builds, renovations, extensions, hard landscaping, groundworks and general property maintenance in the Mid-West.

Founded in 1999 by Ralph Sweeney and based in Shannon, Co. Clare, Springridge has earned an enviable reputation for delivering projects to the highest standards. The family-run business continues to go from strength to strength by providing an unrivalled service to a wide and varied client-base in the Limerick and Clare area.

Springridge is engaged in the following sectors – private, pharmaceutical, commercial, industrial and public (social housing).  With a proven track record and a solid project management background on numerous construction projects in the region, including housing estates and private developments, Ralph has the experience, knowledge and expertise to take on most building projects.

Superior workmanship, value-for-money and a commitment to working closely with clients are the hallmarks of the company which Ralph runs along with his wife Sharon Halvey and 12 staff. Health & Safety is also at the core of the business, and never more so than since the Covid-19 pandemic. The Co. Clare contractor’s reputation for quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from scores of satisfied customers.

By employing highly-skilled people and using only the very best building methods and products, Springridge is able to deliver the highest quality construction to its clients. From

concept to completion, Ralph is with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is built to your specific needs and matched to your budget. All of his work is fully insured and complies with the current building regulations. The company is also registered with the CIF, CIRI, Safe-T-Cert and Homebond.

Whether your next project is a new build, extension, renovation or civils, Springridge’s one-stop-shop approach will ensure that the building process is smooth and hassle free.

“What you see is what you get with us. What we offer we deliver,” Ralph says.

“We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and our top-class team of tradespeople. We will always go the extra mile for our customers. We also employ specialist sub-contractors to supplement our own team, which includes carpenters, machinery operators and labourers.

“We have an array of machinery, including diggers, teleporters, tractors, dump trailers and three trucks, dedicated to groundworks and civils. We value our reputation. Without it, our company would never have attained the status it enjoys today.”

Springridge has a full order book for the next few months with a number of projects ongoing across the Mid-West region.

“We’re currently renovating and retrofitting nine social houses in Limerick city for Limerick City & County Council. We’re bringing them up to BER ‘A’ energy rating. We’re also carrying out refurbishment work for Clare County Council,” the affable managing director explains.

“In addition to this, we’re carrying out civil works and refurbishing plant buildings at a new manufacturing site in Shannon Industrial Estate, which is a joint-venture between UDC (Universal Display Corporation) and PPG. We’re also collaborating with Kirby’s and H&MV on other civil works projects in the Limerick area and are building one-off houses for private clients, which typically range from 2,500-3,500 sq. ft.

“So we’ve a lot on at the minute.”

Asked how his business is faring in the face of soaring building material costs, Ralph replies: “With supplier quotes changing from week to week, it does make pricing that bit more challenging. We try to buy some materials in advance and stockpile before they go up in price, but you don’t want to run the risk of being left with them either. It’s a delicate balancing act.

Ralph worked for Dell in Limerick before deciding to change careers. He set up Springridge Construction as a construction management company in 1999 after receiving a degree in Project Management & Construction, and in response to increased demand for building and construction needs in the Mid-West. When the recession hit a decade later, Springridge became a main contractor and this ensured its survival.

“It was a tough time, but we came through it and have experienced great growth in the last few years in all of the sectors we’re involved in. We relocated to our current premises in Smithstown Industrial Estate in 2015 and it continues to serve us well.”

Passionate about construction, Ralph would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his staff and sub-contractors for their hard work, commitment and skill.
