1 Nov , 2018

Whether you are looking for a one of kitchen for your family home or 500 kitchens to complete a residential development Cherrymore caters for it all.

Established by Harry and Martin McLaughlin in 1996, the company has grown considerably over the years. Their headquarters in Donegal town has gone through a 50,000sq ft extension this year and they now work from a 100,000sq ft premises in Donegal Town with a second 50,000 sq ft warehouse in Ballybofey. That’s a combined total of 150,000 sq ft between the two and they are equipped with the most modern technology to ensure that their products are manufactured to the highest standard possible.

“We are now ten years in our headquarters in Donegal town, explained Retail Manager Brendan McLaughlin. “We manufacture and stock all our products there.

“We are always investing in the business and there will be new machinery installed in the workshop later in the year to rubber stamp the company’s commitment to provide the highest industry standards and performance. All the machinery is automated and we find this to be very efficient as it cuts out mistakes and delivers a quality that is hard to compete with.”

Cherrymore operates two seperate arms to their business – one contract and trade division and a retail division.

The retail division is headed up Brendan who explained: “We have grown our retail division through a difficult recession and are now experiencing the fruits of our labour. We have five showrooms – Donegal town, Ballybofey, Athlone , Castlebar and Galway. They are all doing well at the minute because we are one of the few retailers that manufacture all our own products. That means we have a service and cost advantage over a lot of our competitors and for these reasons we are one of the strongest companies in the marketplace today.”

Cherrymore’s reputation has grown over the years and they can now call on some of Ireland’s largest firms as clients.

“At present, we are involved in a large project for Sisk. It is the Centre Parcs development in Longford which is due to open next year. This would be one of the largest project of its type that we would have worked on. There are about 500 units to be kitted out in a short timeframe, but it is a project that we are delighted to be involved in.”

Through their staff of 60, Cherrymore are confident in their ability to deliver on every project and Martin and Harry revealed that they have some exciting new contracts secured over the coming years.

“We have recently completed a project for the Iveagh Garden Hotel in Dublin where we fitted out all the rooms there and this is an area, we are growing and experiencing a lot more enquiries for, ” said Martin McLaughlin.

Modestly Martin claimed that they are in the top three firms in the country in their line of work, but many would disagree and place them as number one.

“We have worked hard to build the reputation of the company and business is going very well at the moment. However, it is essential to maintain those standard and try to improve on them in any way we can. The service and quality are something that is continuously focused on, while one thing we place a great emphasis on is that when we give a delivery date, we stick to it.”

Health and Safety is paramount within the Cherrymore team and they have their own H&S officer to ensure that all legislation and regulations are adhered too.

“We take health and safety very seriously and nothing is left to chance. There is a very good safety record in the company and that is something that we aim to continue.”
