Construction of the highest standard

19 Aug , 2021

Based along the Kildare/Meath border, PP Construction has been shop-fitting and building for over 16 years now. Building Ireland learned more about the business recently after touching base with its owner and founder Paul Pender.

PP Construction offers its clients a service that is second to none and it had been the vision all along for Paul Pender when he set up his venture in 2004.

Operating with six staff, the company specialises in building, renovations & extensions and shop fitting from its base in Rathganly, Kilcock.

Regular clients of the company include the likes of CRH, Arnotts, Brown Thomas and Ladbrokes, with a high percentage of their business coming from repeat customers and referrals.

Building Ireland heard all about PP Construction – from its origins to the state of business today – from its owner and founder Paul Pender recently.

“We’re established 16 years now and basically what we’d be doing is a lot of renovations and extensions and shop fit-outs,” explained Paul.

“We do a bit for Arnotts and Brown Thomas, shops inside those stores and bookies shops as well for Boylesports and Ladbrokes.

“We would also do private homes as well, so between everything we are kept busy.”

The entire building team at PP Construction is committed to ensuring its extremely high standards are applied to each customer and job.

The company prides itself on its work and from standard to bespoke designs, its work will make your designs stand out and last a very long time.

The team at PP Construction covers all aspects of building from ground work, construction, plumbing, tiling, electrics, and false ceilings to painting the finished build.

Paul and his team will work around the needs of your business and will turnaround a typical shop-fit within a couple of weeks.

Speaking on his own background in the construction business, Paul explained that his dad was “in the building game” his entire working life and he has certainly followed in the footsteps of his father.

Having set-up PP Construction in 2004, Paul has been its driving force in seeing it grow from strength to strength over the past decade-and-a-half.

Today, building renovations is very much the company’s speciality, and, with a solid groundwork team, they can reshape or remodel any building or unit.

PP Construction can work at hours that suit you, and will ensure your designs are brought to life with minimum disruption to yours. Services on offer include ground work, block work, plastering, decorating, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, painting, fitting kitchens and exterior works.

With all of that considered, it’s no surprise to see business going well at the moment for Paul and his team over in Rathganly.

“Things at the moment aren’t bad at all,” he said. “The likes of smaller jobs are doing quite well, but nobody knows what’s going to happen on the commercial side of things with the way things are.”

Indeed, the Covid-19 pandemic affected businesses nationwide throughout 2020, with government lockdown during the months of March, April and May forcing their closure for a stint.

Paul explained that PP Construction were one of the many companies closed during those months and while they did carry out some work via call outs, they weren’t properly up and running again until May 18th.

Since then, business has been going well and the hopes are that it will continue to blossom throughout 2021.

“Right now, we have a bit of renovation work on disabled bathrooms and a couple of grants to get that work in,” said Paul.

“We have had the same clients with us for years now and try to pick up more along the way by providing an excellent service to them.”

He added: “We always try to give a good service. We will be there for our clients and I think they know that and it’s the reason they work with us.”

Recent times have seen the company specialising in the installation of sneeze guards as businesses throughout the country try and adhere to Covid-19 restrictions.

Sneeze guards can help protect you, your staff and customers during the Coronavirus pandemic and Paul and his team are able to design, supply and install sneeze guards to suit any type of desk, counter or workplace requirement.

PP Construction uses high quality Perspex, with various thickness available, and they can create free standing, suspended or framed versions.

These sneeze guards can be used in supermarkets, pharmacies, butchers, offices, reception areas, hospitals, offices and any other workplace environment.

Looking towards the coming months with regards to the pandemic, Paul is optimistic as a vaccine is set to be rolled-out in the early part of 2021.

“I’d be hoping that with the vaccine coming through people might become that bit more confident,” he said.

“We hope that commercial business might start to open up a bit more and the work will be there.

“We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Hear, hear.
