“At the moment business is fairly good. I have to be honest,” said Gary, whose wife Brenda plays a key part in running the business.

“It is what it is. Money seems to have gone down a bit, as in the rates have gone down but there’s still plenty of work for those who want it.”

“It’s down to workmanship. We will spend that extra few pound and time to ensure that things run smoothly and are perfect for the client,” he pointed out.

“It’s all down to tendering at the moment. A lot of government work is going to the cheapest contractor, so it’s very competitive out there.”

On some of the more recent projects, Gary explained: “We’re developing 11 luxury homes in Lecarrow, Co Roscommon, 10 minutes from Athlone. This development will be known as Harbour Court. We hope to have them available on the market in the next couple of weeks, which is a positive sign of active development in some of the smaller counties like Roscommon, that was hit hard during the recession.

“We also have a couple of projects on-going for Inland Fisheries in Galway and in Roscommon. We’ve been working with them for the last year-and-a-half now. We are also currently working on two projects for the Department of Defence in Casemont Aerodrome, Dublin and Custom Barracks, Athlone.
