Celebrating 21 years in business, McArdle Carpentry & Building Contractors Ltd in Broomfield, Co. Monaghan delivers high-quality projects at exceptional prices to a growing client-base.

Fronted by Damien McArdle, the company has a wealth of experience across all spectrums of the construction industry, including home renovations, home extensions, new builds, shop fitouts, roof surveying, commercial buildings and housing developments. Damien, who started out as a sole trader in 2001, employs 15 people directly, including his father Francie. “He has played a big part in our growth and success to date. He’s a builder by trade and has decades of experience in the industry. Construction is strong on my mother’s side of the family too, so it’s something I grew up with,” the affable managing director explains.

“We have a full order book at the moment,” Damien says.

“We’re working on two house extensions in Cabinteely, are damp-proofing two houses on the North Circular Road and Barnhill Road in Dalkey, fitting out a café in Aungier Street and a ‘Pre ‘63’ Georgian house in Grove Park, Rathmines. In addition to this, we’re revamping Nisbets Catering Equipment’s warehouse in Tallaght and carrying out an attic conversion down the road from us in Castleblayney.”

McArdle Carpentry & Building Contractors’ main suppliers are Dundalk Building Supplies, U Value Insulation in Dublin, McCann’s Builders’ Providers in Dublin, N2 Hardware and RB Coogan Homevalue Hardware (both in Castleblayney). Sub-contractors include Halpenny Electrical in Knockbridge, Dundalk, Grigheat Heating & Plumbing in Doohamlet, Quigley Preservation in Dun Laoghaire and Matropix Painting & Decorating in Dublin.

Architects that McArdles have completed various projects alongside and have built up strong working relationships with include Briaín Colgan of CORE Architects in Sandymount, Rob Curley and Alfonso Bonilla of Maremoto Architects in Drumcondra, Logical Real Estate Consulting in Dublin 2, and Cunningham Design in Castleblayney.

We’re able to hold a bit of stock as well, which has always been of great benefit to us, and more so in most recent times.”
