Coming up on 15 years in business, MGM Partnership has established itself as a leading Chartered Quantity Surveying and Project Management practice with offices in Wexford and Dublin.
MGM Partnership is fronted by Micheál Mahon who is supported by a 16-strong team of QS’s, project managers and admin support. Micheál was formerly a quantity surveyor and associate director of Bruce Shaw Partnership in Dublin before deciding to set up his own practice in his native Wexford in January 2009.
In the intervening period, aside from running and growing his business, Micheál went on to become president of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and chairperson of the Construction Industry Council, Micheál in 2020, which is quite an achievement for someone in “provincial practice”.
Micheál has been involved with the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) and the Construction Industry Council (CIC) for several years. His terms as president of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (2020-21) and chairman of the Construction Industry Council (2020-22) coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic which brought many unforeseen challenges.
“It was a difficult time for the Surveying professions and indeed the industry. A lot of my SCSI presidency was spent lobbying the Government to reopen the industry in a responsible manner. I continue to be heavily involved in the Society after 20 years,” he says.
As a result of his endeavours on behalf of the Society and indeed the Industry, particularly through the Covid years, Micheál has become well-known and highly-respected in the industry.
MGM Partnership provides professional quantity surveying, cost consultancy and project management services to all sectors of the construction industry in Ireland and the UK, including residential, educational, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and hospitality projects.
In an ever-changing industry where the needs of clients are also changing, MGM Partnership takes pride in ensuring tailored services are provided to meet clients’ exact requirements.
The practice’s team of fully-qualified professionals are absolutely committed to providing personal attention and developing a close working relationship with their client and design team colleagues. From initial concept design to project completion. MGM Partnership adds real value in the services it provides to both public and private sector clients, as evidenced by the number of repeat commissions it receives from its clients.
It has the capacity, resources, experience and expertise to provide professional quantity surveying and / or project management services on projects of any scale or complexity.
The practice takes a ‘hands on’ role on all projects and endeavours at all times to ensure they are completed within the agreed budget parameters. No effort is spared in the attainment of this goal.
MGM Partnership boasts a wide and varied client-base that includes public and semi state bodies, Approved Housing Bodies and private sector clients in the residential, logistics, commercial offices, pharma, nursing home, primary care and conservation sectors. In addition, MGM Partnership has grown its Project Monitoring services to Financial Institutions and lenders hugely over the past number of years and is actively monitoring projects across Ireland on their behalf.
“We provide the full range of quantity surveying and project management services across all sectors nationwide and beyond. We are involved in projects across the country, including Dublin in particular, Cork, Tipperary and even Donegal and Kerry at the moment,” Micheál continues.
“Our projects range across all sectors, including large-scale residential apartments to educational builds and logistics units.
“I know it can be a cliché but in a professional services practice, it goes without saying that our people are our greatest asset. We have a great team and a low staff turnover. Two of my team who started on Day one back in 2009, Martin Sinnott and David Tobin, are still with us, and we have bolstered our management team with senior professionals Craig Potter and Robbie Donovan on the PM side. They, and all the team, have contributed greatly hugely to our growth and success to date.”
MGM Partnership is currently involved in the delivery of large-scale residential developments in Dublin, including Lovett House, Donnybrook; The Joinery, Pottery Road; St Edmund’s, Liffey Valley; and Rockpoint, Blackrock.
In addition, MGM has a significant hospitality portfolio of work undertaken, including numerous hotels for the Dalata group (Maldron and Clayton hotels), including The Maldron Hotel, Cork and Clayton Hotels in Dublin Airport and Ballsbridge as well as Moran’s Red Cow Hotel and The Wren Hotel at Andrew’s Lane.
MGM Partnership is also PM and QS on a large-scale LEED Gold office developments in Richmond, Dublin, for which the planning application has just been submitted. Furthermore, MGM has completed numerous high-profile office fit-outs for clients such as Morgan McKinley and Dalata plc.
With the increase in residential planning applications over recent years, negotiation of Part V agreements has come to the fore and Micheál and the MGM Part V team has developed a huge database of Part V agreements through acting on behalf of Local Authorities or indeed negotiating on behalf of Developers/Planning Applicants.
Outside of work, Micheál is a keen sports fan, but in particular an avid GAA supporter. He has been involved with his club HWH-Bunclody as a player and administrator for years, while his son Derry is an up-and-coming player who was goalkeeper on the Wexford team that reached this year’s Leinster U20 Hurling Championship final. His three girls are all actively involved in GAA and other sports.
As MGM Partnership continues to go from strength to strength, the affable managing director would like to take this opportunity to thank his staff, clients and suppliers for their continued support.
