Mid-Knight Electrical celebrates 40 years

24 Aug , 2021

Celebrating 40 years in business, Mid-Knight Electrical Ltd is a leading commercial and domestic electrical contractor based in Swords, Co. Dublin. Originally known as Christy Knight Electrical, the company was taken over in June 2009 by Christy’s son Rob and continues to go from strength to strength.

Offering a wealth of experience and expertise in commercial and domestic installations, Mid-Knight Electrical has developed a large and loyal client-base which ranges from households to local authorities and semi-state bodies. No job is too big or too small for this exceptional family-run business which provides a professional, reliable, safe and value-for-money service throughout the greater Dublin area.

Mid-Knight Electrical is available for callouts with a very competitive fee that you won’t find anywhere else. It specialises in domestic and commercial installations such as re-lets / rewires, emergency lighting, fire alarms, CCTV systems, LED lighting, appliance repairs, fuse-board replacement, heat detector and carbon monoxide detector installations.

“We would never see anyone stuck,” Rob Knight stresses.

“Many’s a time we’ve been called out on Christmas Day to get someone out of a spot of bother. We provide a 24/7 installation, maintenance and repairs service, and pride ourselves on our reliability, competitive rates and experience. As a family-run business, we offer a personal and friendly service that you just don’t get from bigger contractors.

“We are very fast to respond to callouts and to electrical issues that need addressing immediately.”

Over the years, Mid-Knight Electrical has forged strong working relationships with a wide range of clients, including Fingal County Council and the OPW (Office of Public Works). In the case of Fingal County Council, it even provides a building service.

“We’ve been offering a response electrical maintenance service to Fingal County Council for years and this led to us doing rewiring / repairs on social housing they re-let. We started working for the OPW last year and have carried out facility maintenance works for them on garda stations in Dunleer, Drogheda, Dundalk and Collon. Needless to say, we’re keen to develop our relationship with the OPW over the coming months and years.”

A member of Safe Electric, Mid-Knight Electrical employs seven staff who are a mix of electricians and builders. “Our people are our greatest strength. They take great pride in their work and have contributed greatly to our growth over the past 40 years,” Rob enthuses.

As an essential service, the Swords contractor has stayed busy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and has played a leading role in the successful completion of numerous significant commercial projects in the Dublin area, including Electric City in the city centre, Bounce N Beyond Playcentre in Ballyboughal, The Chalk Venue in Swords, DPD in Santry and Bright Stars Childcare in Swords.

“On the Electric City project two years ago, we carried out full rewiring, installed LED lighting and CCTV system as well as 25 interior and exterior electric car charging points,” the affable managing director explains.

“We rewired DPD’s 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Santry during the first lockdown and also rewired Bright Stars Creche and Bounce N Beyond. A few years ago, we were the main electrical contractors on The Chalk Venue (The Old Schoolhouse) which was a new build and has become a well-known live music venue. We’ve been very busy, and a lot of that is down to recommendations and referrals we receive from satisfied clients. Most of our work is secured through word of mouth and we get a lot of repeat business.”

Committed to delivering projects on time and within budget, Mid-Knight Electrical works in partnership with its clients to achieve mutually positive results. Total customer satisfaction is the company’s number one priority. It is continually improving its standards of excellence to meet the needs of customers and has earned a reputation for quality workmanship and service.

Mid-Knight Electrical regularly upgrades its fleet to ensure an even better service and recently took delivery of five new Volkswagen Transporter vans from Western Motors in Drogheda. The contractor has also invested in a new Isuzu 3 ½ tonne tipper truck which was purchased from North Dublin Commercials in Balbriggan.

The company always gives generously to local groups and organisations, and has sponsored a charity cycle in aid of the ‘Remember Us’ special needs group in Balbriggan. Mid-Knight Electrical has also provided funding for the maintenance of two defibrillators at Swords Garda Station.

Robbie would like to take this opportunity to thank his customers and suppliers for their continued support, and his staff for their hard work, dedication and skill.

Here’s to the next 40 years of Mid-Knight Electrical!
