19 Oct , 2017

M&N Groundworks Civil Engineering who specialise in a number of different sectors within the building trade.

Since being established by Manus McGarvey in 2004, the company has built up a reputation for delivering high quality work in every project that they are involved in.

M&N Groundworks place a strong emphasis on safety, performance, quality, teamwork and a “hands-on” management approach to achieve client satisfaction as explained by Contracts Manager Eamonn McCafferty who brings over a quarter of a century of industry experience having worked in many countries in both management contracting and subcontracting.

“We offer a nationwide service although the majority of our activities are in Dublin and surrounding areas. We specialise in Civil Engineering, Plant Hire, Rock Breaking, Pipe Laying, Water Mains, Foundations, ESB Contracts, Kerbing, Concreting, Shuttering and Steel Fixing, while we have started doing a lot of blocklaying work in recent times as well as tarmac.

“We have consciously expanded our services and through this we have attracted more work. “We currently have 130 direct employees, all of whom are highly trained and skilled in their areas of expertise.”

Priding themselves on being a reliable company, with a reputation for completing every job to the highest standards, M&N strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction to build long-term business relationships.

“Our experience, expertise and close attention to detail ensure that we execute projects efficiently and in the most cost effective manner possible, whilst adhering to strict health and safety regulations.”

Despite being fledgling company when the recession hit in 2008, Eamon revealed that an ability to keep overheads down and a company wide focused approach working towards the same goal helped them through  the difficult period.

“We actually managed to grow the company through the recession, during a time when construction firms were going out of business daily. The main reasons attributable to this were high productivity levels, a strong company ethos, getting things right first time and again, keeping overheads to a minimum.”

According to Eamon, they learned a lot during the recessionary period and when things improved, M&N were well positioned to take advantage of the increasing  opportunities within the sector.

To run such a successful business and provide so many services, a company needs an extensive range of machinery and to this end, M&N Groundworks are not found wanting.

“We own up to 50 excavators ranging in size from 45t down to 3t, together with an assortment of Dump Trucks, Tipper Trucks and Site Dumpers. We have recently added 6 new excavators to our fleet; 2 x 35t Case, 1 x 25t, 2 x 13t & 1 x 8t. We only use the best equipment and perform regular safety checks, to ensure our machinery is functioning at optimal level.

“We also have 14 artic trucks on the road.

Every few years, we upgrade the machinery which is important in terms of reduced running costs and reliability. As normal, our main dealers service initially and after their liability period, our own fitters take care of things.”

At present, M&N are busy on numerous projects, mostly based in the  capital and this is why they have a Dublin based office in Ballycoolin.

“There are about 12 live projects ongoing in Dublin at the moment. We work with most of the bigger Main Contractors in Ireland including John Sisk, JJ Rhattigan, John Paul, Hegartys, Careys and Purcell to name but a few.

“One of our core principles is to work closely with the client/contractor and we believe this is crucial to a successful outcome. Value for money is another of our underpinning principles and we believe that the level of service provided by us versus cost, makes M&N one of the premiere Groundworks contractors operating in Dublin at this moment in time.”

M&N Groundworks have worked with some of the leading blue chip companies based in Ireland, including the best known tech company in existence on their data storage facilities. This is repeat business which has been ongoing since 2012.

A good Environmental, Health and Safety record is key for the business as such they employ their own full-time Safety Officer who audits their active sites on a fortnightly basis and oversees EH&S. M&N are proud of their impressive record to date.

As with any large job, you need to be sure that that you choose the right company to do the job. With M&N, you can be sure of an efficient job done safely and to the highest standard. We have built up countless strong relationships over the years through repeat business and referrals.
