Twenty-twenty-five is a landmark year for Roccul Ltd. as the industry-leading commercial fit out and refurbishment specialist, which has evolved organically to also deliver industry-leading construction services, celebrates 15 years in business. Roccul reaches this milestone anniversary in rude health and director John McCormack is justifiably proud of what the company has achieved to date.
Within the space of 15 short years, from humble beginnings, Roccul has established itself as one of Ireland’s premier commercial fit out and refurbishment contractors, creating stunning interior spaces for a who’s who of clients across the island and the UK.
Setting new standards in the creation of breath-taking, bespoke premium corporate office interiors, based on demand for its exceptional service, Roccul has also added a construction division. By delivering a complete range of highest-quality construction and fit-out solutions, the company – founded as recently as 2010 – is experiencing exponential growth and John McCormack, who fronts Roccul alongside fellow directors Tommy O’Reilly and Sean Cullinan, says they will proudly celebrate their 15th anniversary:
“It’s a proud moment for a young company like ourselves. We have grown our brand a lot over the past five to seven years in particular and I believe it’s a real cause for celebration bearing in mind where we have come from and what we are now able to do.
“We finished out 2024 with a turnover of €20m and in 2025 will do €30m, which is a nice jump. We are growing steadily but it’s important that we do so in a sustainable way and that the focus is always on quality over quantity.
“We need to continue to select our projects carefully as we don’t want to ever let anybody down. To date, we have never failed on a project delivery and we have fostered very strong relationships with design teams and clients. People generally favour us and tend to want to work with us again.”
Of course, there is no rocket science here: this all comes off the back of consistently delivering outstanding workmanship backed by extraordinary levels of client and subcontractor care as well as strong relationships with suppliers, design teams and all other stakeholders.
“We’re in a very good place and have a very strong technical team,” John continues. “The capabilities of our in-house team are pivotal to the growth and success we are enjoying. We’ve made a number of in-house promotions in recent years and have added more people. We now have a team of 35 staff and are punching well above our weight.”
Roccul create, construct and complete. Their mantra is simple: they deliver stunning commercial fit-outs with a no-nonsense approach. They believe in collaboration with project teams rather than conflict, taking the pressure away from design teams and clients, to invariably successfully hand over a project to the highest standards. With ISO 45001 accreditation, they operate like any Tier 1 contractor when projects are live.
All bases are now covered – inside and out! An extensive knowledge in construction is also a huge advantage to Roccul. Not only can they carry out magnificent high-value commercial fit outs and refurbs; they can build too! With a combined experience of 125 years in the building industry, top management can deliver any project that involves ground, structural, façade or roofing works.
“The calibre of the projects we are being asked to tender for has also jumped,” notes John. “Clients and design teams are now aware of who Roccul are and we are invited to tender on bigger projects. For example, working in collaboration with powerhouse design teams, the construction arm of the business will build extensions onto Loretto College and Alexandra College – two of Dublin’s most prestigious private colleges.”
Indeed, Roccul boasts an impressive track record working for eminent clients, from Google and Facebook to Paul Sheeran’s Jewellers, Hines Ireland (Central Plaza), Lagardere / Dublin Airport and many more.
“Our client list keeps growing and we are getting a large volume of repeat work from existing clients. Key to this is our supply chain and our subcontractors. The role they play in how we deliver our projects is critical. The respect we show our subcontractors means they will pull out all the stops. We pay everybody on time and we show total respect both up the ladder to our clients and design teams and down the ladder to our subcontractors and in-house team. We are in a really good place with our staff and our subcontractors.”
Last year, Roccul, who have received excellent feedback on their recently-launched new website, introduced an Employee of the Year programme. As the directors would find it impossible to choose a winner, they decided to let the staff themselves vote. “It’s brilliant to have them and we want to grow that team with the same mindset that we have as a company,” says Kildare native John.
Across the Irish Sea, Roccul were delighted to deliver a 13,000 sq ft office fit out at the prestigious The Gherkin building in London as well as a two-floor strip-out and refurb to Cat A standard at St James Tower in Manchester and an extensive refurbishment and retrofit to the old Barclays Bank building at 5 St Anns Quay, Newcastle – a 35,000 sq ft office building on the iconic Quayside, which was brought up to BREEAM excellent standard much to the client’s obvious delight.
Be it fit out or construction, Roccul leaves no stone unturned in the constant quest for project perfection. “I firmly believe we are the best at what we do for the size of our company. Nobody else has the technical ability we have. Our safety record is impeccable and we operate like a Tier One contractor when it comes to Health & Safety.
“It’s safety first at Roccul. Safety is our first priority, then quality and successful project delivery, all of which we always achieve.”
As we head into a new calendar year, one that coincides with Roccul’s 15th anniversary, it’s fair to say that the overriding mood in the company is one of justified pride and optimism: “It’s going to be another bright year for Roccul and we are very much looking forward to it. We are growing but we are not growing too fast; it’s because we are good at what we do and that comes back to our team.
“We’re very proud of the team we have and we want to mark and celebrate our 15th anniversary,” John concludes. “Our brand is recognised and people know that Roccul is a quality contractor that’s easy to deal with and that will get quality projects over the line every time.”
