Shillelagh Quarries Ltd are dedicated to providing their customers with the very best quarry products on the market. Their primary objective is to ensure they are the first port of call when it comes to all your aggregate needs.

The large demand for road and building construction aggregates in Ireland supports a thriving quarrying industry.

Aggregates are one of the world’s great natural resources and Ireland is rich in its reserves of aggregates.

First used by settlers and farmers to fence their lands 5,000 years ago, stone and aggregate is as essential to our economic success and development as any other natural resource such as oil, water and food.

Our roads and motorways, homes, schools, hospitals, colleges, factories, water and sewerage systems are all built from concrete, 80% by weight of which is aggregate.

Today crushed rock and sand and gravel are exploited from in excess of 400 sites across Ireland. One of those can found at Brittas, Co Dublin where Shillelagh Quarries Ltd operate out of.

Suppliers of Sand, Gravel, Graded Aggregate, Building Stone, Topsoil, Washed Grit Sand, Mortar Sand, Plastering Sand,1 Tonne Aggregate Bags, Shillelagh Quarries Ltd  is a well established, family run business of a third generation.

The Murphy family are currently enhancing the proud legacy that was built up by their grandfather Thomas Murphy and continued by their father Michael Murphy.

Manufacturers in the extractive industry supplying raw materials to the civil and construction industries, the development of their own distribution of modern trucks and plant enables them to provide an efficient, fast and reliable service in the most demanding of delivery schedules.

The production of high quality materials at their vast  Aughfarrell Quarry in Brittas, Co Dublin  is consistent in the extraction of high quality raw materials, making their equipment and knowledge the most up to date in the production of rock crushing.

Their team of 20 employees take great care in producing high quality consistent stone, which in return retains their certified certificate on all their products by a third party specialising in the passing of high quality materials.

Bearing in mind the ever changing economic climate of Ireland, their employees work enthusiastically together, from their office staff to their ground staff building up an excellent reputation for competitiveness, reliability and excellent service.

The Quarry industry in Ireland is a significant sector of the Irish economy. Though production levels are significantly reduced from those of 2008 there are still a large number of operating quarries and sand pits and the industry is in a good position to expand if there is growth in the construction industry.

“Thankfully, business going okay,” revealed John Murphy in conversation with Building Ireland magazine. “We cover south Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare and things are beginning to to pick up as a result of the upturn in the construction sector.

“Having gone through eight to nine tough years, that is a big lift and everybody that is involved in the sector is in that frame of mind at the moment.”

At Shillelagh Quarries Ltd, they aim to maintain consistency in all of their products.

They have a strict and regular policy ensuring that testing is done to comply to the EN requirements for Hydraulically bound materials and drainage materials.

Testing of their materials is done through outsourced accredited laboratories, which assist Shillelagh Quarries Ltd’s assurance of compliance.

At their Aughfarrell site, they extract material by precise blasting. The material is then crushed to various sizes and grading for use in roads including surface dressing, and general and civil construction
