20 Mar , 2024

There was double delight for Total Fitout at the 2023 Fit Out Awards where it scooped the coveted Project of the Year – Residential (Large) award and also shared the Client of the Year accolade with valued client I-RES.

It was a night to remember for the leading turnkey PRS fit out provider which was shortlisted in no fewer than seven categories. Joanne Reilly, Mandeep Samra and Andrew Mackie were nominated for Designer of the Year, Designer of the Year – Rising Star and Project Manager of the Year respectively, while the company was also in the running for Fit Out Contractor of the Year and Excellence in Sustainability in addition to Client of the Year for I-RES and Project of the Year – Residential (Large) for Aderrig Showrooms in Adamstown, Spencer Place Apartments and The School Yard.

As it turned out, Total Fitout won Project of the Year – Residential (Large) for its outstanding work on The School Yard project for I-RES and also shared the Client of the Year award with the same client, who it had nominated and whose commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with that of Total Fitout.

Located in Portland St North, North Circular Road, Dublin 1, The School Yard offers residents superbly-built homes, designed for comfortable modern urban living just 20 minutes’ walk from Dublin City Centre. Sustainability is at the heart of The School Yard. The development is Ireland’s first LEED Gold-designed residential development that aims to improve the indoor environment and provide a healthier living space. Residents benefit from a number of state-of-the-art features, including enhanced ventilation systems, efficient water usage and reduced energy consumption.

Presented at the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin on Wednesday, November 22 last, the Fit Out Awards celebrate excellence in the execution of world-class fit outs as well as the people and clients who drive these projects. The awards offer a great opportunity for companies from all over Ireland to come together, collaborate and showcase their work.

“We were elated to bring home two awards,” Total Fitout Managing Director Shea Woods enthuses.

“We were delighted to share with I-RES in winning Client of the Year. The success of The School Yard is a testament to our collaborative efforts and shared dedication to excellence.

“To be shortlisted in seven categories is obviously something we’re very proud of. It’s a major achievement, especially the individual ones. As with all of our team, Joanne, Mandeep and Andrew are a pleasure to work with.

“Joanne has been working in the interior design industry for 23 years. Her experience in interior architecture and furniture design is second to none. Mandeep is a fantastic people person who has brought a fresh approach to our design process. She impeccably blends client aspirations with creative solutions, infusing every project with personality and sustainability.

“Andrew has been with us since 2016. As our Operations Manager, he oversees all of our projects and warehouse. He takes our design team and clients’ vision and makes it a reality, on time and within budget.”

Designed and made in Ireland, these pieces showcase the talents and skills of the locals.

“We are dedicated to partnering with local artisans and manufacturers, and enhancing our interiors with Irish flair,” Shea explains.

“Over 60% of the furniture we use is Irish-made. We work in partnership with Irish manufacturers to design bespoke furniture for them. We create fitouts with ESG policy in mind. We also use Irish artists on a regular basis and strive to get their art commissioned as a nod to the local community.

“By increasing our support for local manufacturers, using many recycled products and using timber that only comes from FSC sustainably-managed forests, we pride ourselves on being the most eco-friendly fit-out company in Ireland. Everything is geared towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions.”

Throughout his 25-year career in the furniture and fit out industry, Shea has nurtured enduring client relationships with global asset management funds who place their trust in him to manage multi-million euro fit out projects on their behalf.
