Celebrating 15 years in business, JSF Homes in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary is a general building contracting firm serving the public and private sectors. As a block-layer with over 30 years’ experience, managing director Jason Fleming prides himself on constructing high-quality, traditional-style homes.
Previously known as JSF Construction, the company recently rebranded to JSF Homes to reflect its focus on house building. “We’ve delivered construction projects in the commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial and residential sectors over the years, but the emphasis is now very much on the latter,” says senior quantity surveyor Frankie Nolan, who has been a friend of Jason’s since their school days.
“Jason previously ran a company called Knocknaconnery Construction which specialised in blockwork, masonry and bricklaying services. As such, he favours traditional building methods. Everything is block-built with Jason who delivers a superior, value-for-money product. He builds premium homes for a not so premium price. He wants to leave a legacy of good quality homes with high-end finishes, including limestone sills and surrounds on the doors, Flemish bond brickwork, estate-type rails and landscaping.”
A main contractor in the residential sector since 2017, JSF Homes has since delivered hundreds of private as well as social and affordable units across Co. Tipperary. It has completed a number of schemes for approved housing body Tuath Housing, including Baker’s Lot and Mill Crescent in Carrick-on-Suir. Baker’s Lot was a development of 13 apartments for people with specific requirements such as the elderly or those with a disability. Mill Crescent consisted of 22 semi-detached homes and had a contract value of €4.8 million.
In what is its largest project to date, JSF Homes is currently constructing 217 new homes in Cashel. “Bregawn is a mix of two, three and four-bed detached and semi-detached homes as well as 28 one and two-bed apartments,” Frankie explains.
“Phase One, which comprised 40 private and 40 social and affordable units, has already been handed over. We’ve since launched Phase 2 which consists of 137 units. There is huge interest in the development and a lot of that is down to location. The site is only a minute’s drive to the M8 where you’re an hour from Cork and an hour and 15 minutes from Dublin.”

We also have a cohort of subcontractors who are with us on nearly every job. These include Tom Kennedy Electrical, Gary Killeen Plumbing & Heating, Gibbs Engineering and Liam Maher Slipform Kerbing. Maintaining strong relations with our subcontractors and producing quality work is very important to us.”
JSF Homes’ main suppliers are Kilsaran, Chadwicks in Clonmel, Stakelums Home & Hardware in Thurles, Munster Timber Structures and Munster Joinery. The architects / engineers it collaborates with on a regular basis are Neville Conroy Architects in Wexford, David Kelly Partnership Chartered Engineers in Kilkenny and Youghal, and Ronan Meally Consulting Engineers (RMCE) in Kilkenny.
With Ireland facing an unprecedented housing shortage, Frankie is confident that JSF Homes will continue to go from strength to strength.
“We have plans to expand in the Tipperary region where we hope to break ground on three more sites in the coming weeks and months. We believe there is a market for the type of high-end, block-built homes which we are renowned for. The last few years have been challenging with the Covid-19 pandemic and rising material costs, but we have come through it and are looking to the future with renewed optimism,” he concludes.
