These are busy times indeed for Fabricat Ireland Ltd. Building Ireland heard more from owner PJ McGee and Contracts Manager Paddy Donaghy about the company which primarily specialises in structural steel.
When Fabricat Ireland Ltd set up shop seven years ago it was right in the middle of a stinging economic recession.
“In the past two years or so it has really started to turn around,” stated PJ. “When we started the company we had around 10 staff and now we have 40 full-time, so that indicates that we’re doing something right anyway.
Situated in Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, Fabricat Ireland Ltd are a steel fabrication and erection company that have the capacity to fabricate 200 ton of steel a week, manufacturing and installing a range of products with end installation in various projects such as hospitals, schools, leisure centres and retail parks.
These are erected on-site to provide the skeleton of any commercial building project all over the north and south of Ireland, as well as the UK.
The business itself may only be up and running seven years, but it has already put together an impressive portfolio.
Over the years the company has grown both in size and reputation and have carried out contracts like Google offices Dublin, University College Dublin, NUIG Galway, Bangor Grammar School, NUI Maynooth, Meteor Retail Park Bournemouth, Chief O’Neills Dublin and Whitlee Wind farm Glasgow Scotland.
Right now, the list of projects that Fabricat Ireland Ltd are working on includes the Kevin street Garda Headquarters in Dublin, Colaiste Glor Na Mara Balbriggan, Scoil Cormac Balbriggan, St Patricks Academy Dungannon, City Quays Hotel Belfast and QUB School of Biology
They have “never been busier”, according to Paddy Donaghy, the company’s Contracts Manager, who continued: “Our books are full until next May and after coming through the recession we’re ready to prosper now.”
Fabricat, which also carries out crane hire work as well, also recently earned ISO140001 and ISO180001 certifications, further highlighting the high standards it has set for itself, along with its competitors.
From manufacture to site installation, safety and product quality is of paramount importance at Fabricat.
Through their vast experience in the industry, they have developed a highly skilled workforce trained to exceptionally high standards. The workforce includes fully qualified steel fabricators, fitters, welders and steel erectors.
Technologically advanced machinery in the company’s purpose built 40,000 square foot workshop, coupled with a high spec on-site plant ensures quality across the spectrum. The facility also incorporates a drawing office with qualified draughtsmen and state-of-the-art computerised steel detailing equipment.
Quality and excellence are the keywords at Fabricat, and their expertise and effective production and installation techniques have created the reputation that they have today.
So why are high profile clients such as JJ Rhattigan, Ganson Construction, Tracey Brothers, Woodvale Construction and Gilbert Ash coming back to Fabricat time and time again?
“I think our clients choose us first because of the quality that we continually produce for them. We get a lot of repeat business off of them and they know that they can rely on us,” PJ stated.
With those ethos well in place, the busy times look set to continue for some time at Fabricat.
