Glenart Electrical puts the spark into every job

7 Nov , 2025

Specialising in domestic and commercial projects, Glenart Electrical is the electrical contractor of choice to a large and loyal client-base in the Leinster region.

Based in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Glenart Electrical is a professional and fully insured electrical contracting firm that caters for all your electrical needs, including maintenance and emergency callouts. With 44 years’ experience, there is nothing managing director Eugene Bentley doesn’t know about the trade. Since going out on his own in 2007, and with the unwavering support of his wife Caroline who looks after the administration side of things, Eugene’s company has gone from strength to strength. He employs 12 people and has five vans on the road serving new and existing customers.

“We cover the east coast from Dublin down to Wexford. Our aim is to provide the highest standards without compromising on quality,” he explains.

“Our business is 40% commercial, 30% residential and 30% maintenance. We have a team of fully qualified electricians for all domestic and commercial needs. We’ve earned a stellar reputation within the industry and are extremely grateful for the support we receive from our customers and suppliers on a daily basis.”

He continues: “I served my time as a maintenance electrician with Roadstone and worked for another electrical contractor for many years until the recession hit. It was at that point that I set up this business and we haven’t looked back since. Having started out with Roadstone, I’m not doing maintenance for them. It’s gone full circle! We also have maintenance contracts for the Bridgewater Shopping Centre and Peter Mills Property, both of which are in Arklow, to name but two others.”

Glenart Electrical is a Safe Electric-registered contractor employing a high-calibre team who complete every job in a safe, professional, friendly and timely manner. The company is also EV Charger Installation certified – which is a requirement for educational projects – and has earned an outstanding name for customer service through a strong work ethic and attention-to-detail which results in repeat business and recommendations from scores of satisfied clients. Superior workmanship, value-for-money, trust, mutual respect and reliability are other hallmarks of this highly-regarded family business.

The Co. Wicklow contractor collaborates with main contractors such as Nolan Construction, Mordaunt Construction, Bastion Construction, Paudge McBride Construction and the Coyne Group on various residential, commercial and maintenance projects. Eugene and his team also enjoy an excellent relationship with their main supplier, Brennan’s Electrical Wholesale, which is the No. 1 electrical wholesaler and retailer in Arklow and beyond.

“We provide electrical services installation packages for Nolan Construction on many of their school extension and ASD unit projects for the Department of Education,” Eugene reveals.

“We’ve just completed an ASD unit in St Patrick’s National School, Newbridge and are currently working on another one in Hacketstown. We’re shortly commencing an extension to FCJ Secondary School in Bunclody with Nolan Construction, having recently completed a four-room science block extension for them in the Dominican College in Wicklow town.

“We’ve also recently finished work on a creche in Leixlip for the Coyne Group and are about to start work on a hostel in Dublin city centre for them as well. Another recent project that we completed was 14 fishermen’s huts at Arklow Harbour for Wicklow County Council. The huts are basically storage units for active registered fishers. The main contractor on that job was Mordaunt Construction.”

Staff development is a core pillar of Glenart Electrical’s business. Eugene believes in fostering a culture of continuous learning and career progression, ensuring that each team member grows alongside the company.

“Our people are our greatest asset,” he points out.

“I have three foremen running the jobs for me. We are lucky to have good apprentices with strong work ethics because they’re getting harder and harder to come by. The work isn’t for everyone. Being an electrician is a bit of a vocation. You have got to be prepared to work after hours, especially when it comes to emergency callouts. It’s not your typical 9 to 5.”

Furthermore, Glenart Electrical can provide electrical design packages to residential clients tailored to their requirements, while fire alarm design is also available.

At Glenart Electrical, they are committed to excellence and take immense pride in the quality and precision of their work. Eugene would like to take this opportunity to thank his clients and suppliers for their continued support as well as his dedicated team for their hard work and expertise.
