Fast, efficient and reliable, Service Master Ireland continues its rapid growth

22 Jan , 2026

Operating out of Lucan, Co Dublin, Service Master Ireland Ltd provides a professional and reliable service on air-to-water heat pumps and gas boilers for homeowners and companies. Building Ireland caught up with Managing Director Mark McDonagh and directors James Travers and Mark Saunders to hear all about this thriving business and the projects it’s immersed in at the moment.

Business is good these days at Service Master Ireland and the plan for owner and founder Mark McDonagh and his team along the Leixlip Road in Lucan, Co Dublin to try and keep things that way for the foreseeable.

Founded in 2022, the company has grown year on year to the point where it now employs 13 full-time staff which operate with the aim of delivering fast, efficient and reliable servicing.

A certified F-Gas Engineer and registered RGI Gas Installer, Service Master Ireland is the sister company of MCD Mechanical – a company which has been specialising in high quality plumbing, gas, heating and ventilation services for the past decade-and-a-half now.

Building Ireland touched base with Mark McDonagh (MD), James Travers and Mark Saunders (Directors) to discuss the ins and outs of Service Master Ireland and what they see for this firm’s future.

“We specialise in service, maintenance and breakdowns of heat pumps of all the major brands,” outlined Travers.

“We also specialise in delivering service contracts to approved housing bodies, landlords and real estate investment trusts.”

Fellow company Director Mark Saunders added: “The business was founded three years ago and in that period of time has grown significantly, now proudly employing a team of 13 people and has earned  an excellent reputation for quality, expertise and reliability.

“We’re doubling our growth every single year and we anticipate the same again this year. We’re already one of Ireland’s leading independent heat pump and HVAC servicing companies and we have big ambitions for the future.

“We have a very good and loyal client base across all of Ireland and are continuing to grow in terms of a broad spectrum of customers, be they approved housing bodies, county councils or letting and property management agents. We also work with some of the most reputable builders in Ireland and we have a large and thriving private residential business.  In fact, to service our growth we are actively recruiting to add to our team.”

Since ‘Day One’, the aim at Service Master Ireland has been to ensure that heat pumps and gas boilers are maintained within the manufacturer’s warranty guidelines and running at their optimum to make sure the product is operating efficiently.

All of the company’s field engineers are fully QQI trained for heat pumps and RGII for gas boilers. They are equipped to service both Monobloc and split system heat pumps on Ireland’s leading heat pump manufacturers.

The company is a nationwide leading air to water heat pump service and partners with Samsung, Hitachi, LG, Daikin, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Joule Exhaust air heat pumps and NIBE exhaust air heat pumps among many others.

Right now, business is flourishing for this young Lucan-based venture, with its turnover doubling in 2024 and, as things stand, it’s on course to do the same again this year.

Such rapid growth had been part of the plan for founder Mark McDonagh when he set-up Service Master Ireland in 2022 and it has certainly lived up to expectations given the volume of business thus far.

As McDonagh himself puts it, the company’s staff numbers are currently at “13 full-time and growing”, pointing towards his ambition for bigger and better things to come for Service Master Ireland as it delivers projects nationwide for clients such as Cooperative Housing, DNG and Kelland Homes to name but a few.

“We have multiple projects ongoing at the moment,” said Saunders. “We’ve done a lot of work approved housing bodies, one of the big ones being Cooperative Housing Ireland.

“So we’re very proud about that. We’ve also worked with Respond as well and Westmeath County Council and Wicklow County Council.”

Travers added: “We just completed a project in St Mary’s Hall in Athlone. It’s an old famine building, we put in a Mitsubishi air to air heat pump system for their community hall.

The projects keep coming for this ambitious young company, so the burning question is what has been the secret behind its success to date?

How has a small start up grown into what is now very much a thriving national business with 13 full-time staff on its books (and growing) and an excellent reputation amongst its clientele?

“I think there’s two things. Number one, we provide an excellent quality service, but the other thing as well is it’s really around the core values of the business,” McDonagh pointed out.

“It’s about customer care. We’re very personal, we really endeavour to go the extra mile and there’s a lot of great companies out there, competing with us, but the feedback we receive is really around the personal touch.  And that is all done with the great team we have built in Service Master Ireland.

“We’re available anytime, anywhere. What I’d say is we deliver and we care and that’s really what our value proposition is.”

He added: “We’re available 24/7 and 365 days a year nationwide. Another very important point is that we operate in an industry that is changing and evolving all the time, be it in terms of products and technology.

“So we put a big emphasis on training and development, we’re investing in the team so we keep very much a finger on the pulse in terms of new technology so we’re very proactive on coming up with innovative solutions to our customers.”

Looking towards the coming months for Service Master Ireland, McDonagh says it’s very much about continued growth for the company which itself also has a wider view on creating a more sustainable Ireland.

“We’re very much focused, we have a business plan and we want to continue to execute it,” said the Managing Director.

“We want to grow the business, we want to bring more staff in,  we want to be there country’s leading heat pump servicing company and we want to play our part in creating a greener and more sustainable Ireland. And we believe we’re well on our way to achieving that vision. That’s really the goal.

“So from an EFT point of view, we have a lot of initiatives going on there as well.”

Fantastic to hear.
