Lagan Asphalt Group Ltd have been operational at Rossmore Bay, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork since 2005, planning approval was recently granted giving consented reserve of in excess of 6 million tonnes ensuring that the business will continue to thrive in future. Lagan Asphalt (South) were recently awarded the 2017 ‘North Cork’ Road Resurfacing Contract. Cork County Council’s Roads Directorate maintains the largest road network (12,555 km) of any local authority in the country. The Municipal District of Kanturk/Mallow & Fermoy (commonly known as ‘North Cork’ area) cover approximately 25% of County Cork.
The 2017 contract comprises Drainage and service ducts, earthworks, installation of concrete footpaths, road strengthening and resurfacing, signage and road marking on 20 no. Regional and Local roads within North Count Cork Municipal Districts of Kanturk, Mallow & Fermoy involving placement of some 8,500 tonnes of bituminous materials which will be produced at Lagan Macadam facility at Rossmore Bay, Carrigtwohill. Lagan Roadmarking will reinstate markings and road studs on the project. Up to 5 separate locations will have ‘live’ construction works at any given time, commencing with temporary traffic management set-up, civils works, cold milling, resurfacing, surface dressing, signage, anti-skid surfacing and road marking.
