Quality is a key word in business, without it, a company will struggle to be a success and that is why all firms placed a huge emphasis on this area.
In the construction industry, new regulations and legislation have enhanced the standard of products and workmanship in recent years.
However, there are many companies out there that have always focused on quality and for this month’s edition of Building Ireland, we profile one such firm.
Established in 1969, Wright Windows is one of the country’s leading manufacturers and installers of windows and doors, supplying an unrivalled range of products, including R9 Legacy, Pvc, Timber, Alu-clad, and Aluminium.
The company was never afraid to move with the times and their innovation saw their product range and services grow down through the years.
In 2012, there was a management buy-out with Ted Cronin and Pat Geraghty taking control of the business, as Wright Windows entered a new era in its history.
Professionalism is a word commonly associated with Wright Windows who from their state of the art facility in Milltownpass, Co Westmeath have developed a reputation for manufacturing and installing top quality products.
It’s hard to think of any other single aspect of your house that has to work harder than your windows. Windows provide security, insulation, light, ventilation, shield you from wind and rain, and allow you to enter and exit in an emergency. Practicalities aside, they give your house character and make that all important first impression.
Nonetheless, there are a vast range of standards to be met when manufacturing doors and windows, all of which Wright’s take great pride in meeting.
“Providing a quality service is our main priority and we focus on getting the job done the first time and ensuring there are no major call-backs. We have developed long-term relationships with our key suppliers, and we work with them to ensure we use nothing but the best of materials in our products” said Pat.
In terms of energy certification, few rival the Westmeath based firm as they can supply energy-efficient windows from A-rated through to Passive standard.
“To help improve the BER rating of a person’s home, we have developed a wide range of energy-efficient products that are certified by the National Standard Authority of Ireland (NSAI), which operates the Window Energy Performance (WEP) Scheme.”
The WEP Scheme enables consumers to independently compare the energy performance of products manufactured by different window companies. Each window manufactured under the scheme has a WEP rating label attached to it. This label is non-transferable and both the window assembly name and the manufacturer will appear on the WEP Certificate.
To further enhance the range and quality of their products, Pat and Ted continually invest in new manufacturing equipment. In an era when an ever-increasing number of window companies operate out of a warehouse, buying in fabricated windows from the cheapest source possible, Wright Windows firmly believe in the importance of having complete control of the manufacturing process. In this way they can ensure that they have full traceability of every product supplied.
“Since we took over five years ago, we have grown the business year on year. We have developed a close working relationship with a number of key customers, including Cosgrave Developments, one of Ireland’s leading construction companies. During the recession, we focused on developing our presence in the one-off domestic market, as more people were focusing on rebuilds and renovation work.”
The product range that the company produce has proven very popular amongst their customers with the latest addition to their portfolio being the R9 Legacy.
“We are the official manufacturer and installer of the R9 Legacy range in the Republic of Ireland. This is a relatively new product which has been designed to have the look and feel of Flush Sash timber windows and it is virtually maintenance free.”
Of course, the success of the business would not be possible without a dedicated team of employees all of who are very experienced in their own areas.
“There are over 50 people employed here, a number of whom have over 25 years’ service in Wright Windows. It is an experienced workforce that work well together and from the people on the floor to the office to the installers, all are very committed to their jobs, and to delivering quality products and service to our customers.”
Wright’s are currently involved in a number of residential projects, but one that stands out is the Honeypark Development in Dun Laoghaire for Cosgrave Developments. This has been described as Ireland’s biggest building site and one that the window and door specialists have been involved in since 2010.
So what makes Wright Windows such a success? “Well obviously, there are a number of factors that make the company a success, but the one thing that stands out for me is the quality of our products and workmanship.
“The best form of advertising is through word of mouth and when people are pleased with the work that you do and others see the quality of the work, that is how you attract more business.
“The company has a great name and since we took over, we have strived to ensure that great name remains. This is something that we have achieved so far, but we are not about to rest on our laurels and we are always looking at ways of improving the business and enhancing our product range.”
There is no doubting the drive and passion that Pat and Ted have for the company and with a dedicated and loyal workforce behind, they will undoubtedly continue to produce those high standards that their customers have become accustomed to over the years.
