Along with the Life Cycle Assessment and the Environmental Product Declaration, a new survey provides further proof of the outstanding ecological profile of the premium roofing membrane Rhepanol® manufactured by made by FDT FlachdachTechnologie and supplied by Quality Building Materials Ireland and UK.
The testing carried out by the Hygiene Institute of Gelsenkirchen/Germany shows that the synthetic roofing membrane meets the requirements according to the DVGW Worksheet W 270 for the use in drinking water installations.
The analysis of the test results shows that, in terms of microbial growth, Rhepanol® has similar properties to stainless steel. Just like high-quality metal surfaces, Rhepanol® does not promote growth of microorganisms. Thus, Rhepanol® can be safely employed in areas of contact between the premium waterproofing and drinking water.
Even though it is not common practice to use synthetic roofing membranes in drinking water installations, as a material in conventional usage, Rhepanol® does not contribute to the formation of microorganisms. Additionally, the high-quality waterproofing membrane does not contain any additives which, in contact with (drinking) water, may wash out or cause chemical contamination.
As Rhepanol® is free of lead and cadmium as well as of special root inhibitors, neither the raw materials, nor the production process or the processing and long-term use will cause any significant environmental impact. Even after its useful life, Rhepanol® can be fully recycled. Thus, together with the other specific properties, the oldest synthetic roofing membrane is virtually ideal for an ecological and sustainable building design.
