Activ8 Solar Energies believe that now is the time for the next Irish revolution. One that sees us, as a nation, embrace the power of renewable technology, a revolution that allows them to bring the power of solar to each and every home in Ireland.
Activ8 Solar Energies was established in 2007 having been previously known as Ciaran Marron Electrical from 2004.
Since this distinct move, they are proud to have become Ireland’s number one installer of solar energy systems. In the solar industry for over 15 years the directors of Activ8 Solar Energies (brothers Ciaran and Aidan Marron) have gained their unrivaled knowledge and experience through the installation of over systems supplied and installed across Ireland and the UK.
Based in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan they have grown from strength to strength and now employ over 70 people, with big plans for further expansion in the near future.
Down through the years they have grown their service offering and as well as supplying domestic solar thermal systems, they now also work within the solar PV space for Part L installation as well as commercial systems.
They received a major vote of confidence in 2018 when SSE Airtricity entered into an agreement to acquire 40 per cent of Activ8 Solar Energies.
Under the terms of the agreement, the existing Activ8 management team continued to lead the business, which has continued to trade as Activ8 Solar Energies. At Activ8 Solar Energies, nothing change in the running of the company on a day-to-day basis, except with the aim of growing the business and creating even more local employment.
Activ8’s association with SSE Airtricity Energy Services dated back to when they were chosen as a preferred partner in the delivery of SEAI-supported domestic and community-based retrofit schemes.
Commercially, Activ8 partnered with SSE Airtricity in 2017 to install a 1,-panel rooftop array covering more than 2,300m2 and generating 420 kilowatt peak (kWp) of solar energy at The SSE Arena, Belfast.
The acquisition further cemented Activ8’s position as one of the leading providers of Rooftop Solar solutions in Ireland.
Activ8 provide a number of different solar panel solutions depending on your circumstances.
Their surveyors and engineers decide on the design, fit and installation of your Activ8 Solar System. Be it domestic, commercial state-led project, they have the solution for you. Whether you need panels to heat water in your home, or power your business premises, they have the equipment, the personnel and over 12 years’ experience to know exactly what to do and how to do it.
The Monaghan-headquartered company has partnered with some of the world’s biggest solar panel manufacturers to supply them with specifically designed panels for our Irish climate. And when it comes to panels, in Ireland, you couldn’t be in better hands. They are the only end-to-end dedicated solar installer with ISO 9001 Accreditation.
That stamp of approval gives their current customers further peace of mind as to the pedigree of their install, the stability of guarantees and the standards to which their customer service will deliver if they ever need them.
It has also gone a long way towards helping any prospective customers make up their mind as to with whom they wish to deal with. This has helped to establish Activ8 Solar Energies as the industry leader in quality – quality of survey, design, fit, install and overall service.
Apart from survey, design and installation of your solar system, there are a number of other products and services that is offered as part of wider Activ8 packages, including solar grant applications.

As well as producing electricity for use all around the home, when there is an excess of supply, it will heat your water before being exported to the grid.
From an environmental perspective, Solar PV helps reduce the emission of CO2 and reduce the need for electricity generation from fossil fuels and therefore protects the environment.
With an SEAI grant of €1,000 for battery storage, you can now save excess electricity and use it when you need it!
“We have experienced consistent growth over the years but in the last year alone we have seen our increase by 250%,” the company’s Commercial Manager Gary Connolly revealed. “There are three reasons behind that, number one was the acquisition by SSE Airtricity which bought a lot of strength to the Activ8 brand plus projects that SSE Airtricity needed to be done
“Secondly, the new SEAI grant that was launched last year has proven to be really popular with our customers and has encouraged them to install Solar PV in their homes. Lastly, the
green agenda is very much in the psyche of the general public now and there is a much greater awareness about the need to do everything in our power to protect the environment.”
The experience and wealth of knowledge that exists within Activ8’s walls is one of the key ingredients in the company’s winning formula, according to Gary.
“From the very top right down, the skills of the directors and the workforce are what differentiates us from the rest of the market. Ciaran Marron was an early convert to green technology and has very well ideas around what needs to happen. We are roofers, plumbers and engineers and all of the highest quality. The same applies to our administration and sales staff.
“We are an ISO 9001 accredited company that operates across the retrofit, new build, agricultural and commercial sectors. We install approximately 1000 on a yearly basis”
These are exciting times for Activ8 Solar Energies who have ambitious plans for further expansion in the pipeline. “We are only scratching the surface of where we expect to be in a couple of .
“We pride ourselves on our longevity, quality and engineering. We are the longest solar installer in Ireland and we have quite a number of projects with strategic partners coming down the line.”
