When it comes to offering more solutions, Ecopipe are taking their commitment to another level by introducing their in-house BIM design service. This dedicated office develops efficient projects that optimise the use of their products on-site without any waste. In addition, the company is also pleased to offer free underfloor design using its various options of floor panels. “Our ‘More’ campaign is aimed at highlighting the fact that we are much more than just the best first fix supplier. It reflects our wider range of brands, our greater selection of products and more solutions using our BIM design team,” says Ecopipe Managing Director Macartan ‘Mac’ McCague.
“We see ourselves as a one-stop shop for all your heating and plumbing needs. We have an extensive range of heat pumps, bathroom ware and heating products. Our new online shop is going live at the end of November and that’s something we’re very excited about.”
Operating with 18 staff across two locations in Ballyboughal and Stillorgan, the award-winning company has carved a niche for itself in the Irish construction sector which ‘Mac’ is determined to build on. As well as being an agent for Tiemme and IWTM, Ecopipe distributes many leading Irish products to the trade in Dublin and through merchants nationwide.
“When I was setting up the business, I approached Italian manufacturer Tiemme and started distributing for them in Ireland. Tiemme Raccorderie is renowned as an international leader in the production and marketing of plumbing and heating components,” he explains.
“We started off as a specialist in underfloor design and supply with Tiemme working out of our warehouse in Ballyboughal.
“A year later, we opened a trade counter in Stillorgan, selling a full range of heating and plumbing equipment to which we then added our spare parts distribution. Then in 2015, we added a trade counter to our warehouse in Ballyboughal which now covers the trade customers from the north of the county and country.
“We purchase a lot of goods locally like most other merchants, but what we do differently is that we also import and distribute the Tiemme range complete with more technical products which are more solution driven. From Tiemme, we are not only supplying their market leading multilayer pipe and fittings, we also supply their modular plant room manifolds, pre-assembled pump modules and pressure differential valves.
“Full heating design packages are also available, including our UFH systems and UFH thermal panels for various floor types. Tiemme have also launched a new range of Wifi enabled TRV’s, the ‘Tiemme Gate’, Distribution Boxes and taps and showers which they are manufacturing and they are all registered on the new European Water label.”
Ecopipe provides a full heating design package using Tiemme plumbing and heating components. And this is where their in-house BIM design service really comes into its own.
“Our BIM design office can offer full design in 3D for small and large projects,” ‘Mac’ continues.
“Tiemme is the only company that has multilayer pipe and press fittings within the BIM family on Revit. Consultant engineers, architects and our own design team can use multilayer pipes and fittings with BIM rather than the traditional copper or steel when designing heating and cooling systems.
“We recently installed the Tiemme software in TU Dublin’s Design Department where students can now train using multilayer piping.
“Since Covid, we’ve visited the Tiemme factory in Brescia four times per year and will be continuing with those trips going forward.”
Ecopipe is also the sole Irish distributor for the full range of IWTM chemical-free water treatment products for the heating and cooling industry.
With the evolution of the expanding heat pump market, it is more essential than ever that the water quality is controlled and systems perform to the European VDI 2035 standard. Using demineralised water ensures the reliability and efficiencies of the heating and cooling components in our systems. IWTM’s products are used in new installations and as a retrofit installation where corrosion is occurring and the traditional use of chemicals has proven ineffective.
The current customer-base for these products is specialist heating installers, both residential and commercial, and commercial maintenance companies who would have used chemical dosing in the past.
The affable Monaghan man has always been proud of the products his company represents and is also grateful to his customers and suppliers for their support.

“Our product range has always been strong and we concentrate on European products. We’re dealing with local people all the time and you obviously have to be competitive in any business, but I think loyalty, service and our product range have brought us a long way.
