Windows & Rooflights Ltd (WRL) is a leading supplier of quality contemporary and traditional windows and glazing products. Managing director Declan Lally explains more about the successful company which he runs along with 22 highly-skilled and professional staff.

With outlets in Galway and Dublin, Windows & Rooflights Ltd is perfectly positioned to provide a nationwide service to a growing list of clients in the commercial and domestic markets.

“We specialise in domestic and commercial projects with bespoke specialist area in rooflights. We operate at the mid-to-high end of the market. About 90 per cent of our commercial work is in the public sector,” Declan says.

WRL’s fabrication facility and showroom are located in Briarhill Business Park, Ballybrit (over €100,000 was recently spent on the showroom). Here, you can view a wide range of home windows and composite doors, glazing, rooflights, skylights and internal shutters. The company offers a full design and installation service from both its Galway and Dublin offices.

“Our team of professionals provide excellent service across Ireland and the UK, while our products come fully guaranteed for up to 25 years,” Declan continues.

“Our promise is that you will leave our showroom with much more knowledge as our extensive products range is presented in a factual way without the sales jargon in an honest and transparent fashion. We do this so that the customer can make an informed decision based on all parameters of quality, professionalism, service and price.

“Our glass is procured from leading manufacturers and designed and made to order at our state-of-the-art fabrication facility, which boasts new CNC machinery with a recent investment of over €250,000 in high tech machinery. We’ve also recently invested in a Combilift with four-way steering system to maximise our efficiency so that we can pass this onto our valued customers.”

WRL’s windows are available with an extensive choice of glass and glazing solutions from double and triple glazing to a super energy efficient quadruple glazing option. Its home windows and doors come in a variety of RAL colour, with varying style choices of Casement, tilt and turn and sliding sash windows as well as picture windows and various walling systems for use in commercial offices and public buildings are also supplied.

When choosing your windows, the energy rating and thermal efficiency is as important as the style and colour. WRL offers products in up to six different grades of thermal efficiency, all of which exceed building regulation requirements. The company offers a windows repair and replacement service as well as the supply of new windows for domestic and commercial projects. WRL’s in-house structural engineering specialises in bespoke design and works with its trained expert installation team to ensure that every project is completed to the highest standards.

The Galway-headquartered firm also supplies aluminium rooflights in a variety of styles, including mono rooflights, saddle rooflights, shuttle rooflights and lantern-style rooflights. Rooflights are a great solution for adding light into any room or commercial space. The WRL team have years of experience in the design and installation of specialised roof glazing systems, and also offer walk-on glass roof systems.

WRL’s thermally broken aluminium roof window systems are the highest quality on the market with bespoke design made and installed to specification. Roof glass is available in double, triple and quadruple glazing which provides a U value of a passive nature. Aluminium roof lights come in over 2,000 RAL colours. The roof opening can be manually or motorised with temperature and rain sensor-controlled automation features.

The company also specialises in interior shutters, which are an increasingly popular style of window dressing that adds great style and elegance to the home. Plantation shutters are an ideal solution for customers looking for great interior design ideas, incorporating high quality natural products with lasting appeal.

In addition, WRL is a one-stop shop for matching window frames and window shutters. Available in a range of different wood finishes, they are designed, supplied and installed to the highest specifications and are fully guaranteed.

WRL has undertaken many prestigious and large-scale projects down the years. Some the commercial projects it is currently involved with are at University Hospital Galway, Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, St. James’ Hospital and Beaumont Hospital (both Dublin), NUIG, Scoil Phadraig in Westport and Punchestown Racecourse, Temple Street Hospital Dublin (McAleer and Teague Ltd), to mention a few. The main contractors on these projects include GEM Elliott, JJ Rhatigan, Elliott Group, Purcell Construction, Clancy Construction, McAleer and Teague Ltd and Burns Construction.

“While our business has increased, the market is still volatile. I would be cautious about 2017 because the market outside Dublin continues to be stagnant,” Declan says.

“What’s winning the business for us is our quality, service and price. A lot of our business comes through referrals and word of mouth. Our services and repair service also offers peace of mind to our customers.”
