The Approved Housing body (AHB), Tuath Housing, and Evara, one of the country’s largest homebuilders, have announced the planned delivery of 355 new homes in Adamstown in Dublin.
The homes, which will be owned and managed by Tuath, are being developed by Evara at the Aderrig development in the fast-growing suburb of Adamstown.
Construction is now under way, with Tuath funding the development via staged payments using a combination of finance from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Housing Agency and the Housing Finance Agency.
The first homes are due for completion in 2027 with the remaining homes being delivered in 2028.
The development, comprising 7 studios, 164 one-bedroom and 184 two-bedroom apartments, will support the accelerated delivery of much-needed social and cost rental housing in a well-connected and growing community.
Aderrig occupies a 2.16-hectare site and is located within a five-minute walk of Adamstown train station. Planning permission for the project was granted by South Dublin County Council in November 2023, with a subsequent amendment approved in June 2024 increasing the total number of homes to 355.
Aderrig is located within the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) where Evara is a lead developer. The homebuilder has already delivered over 2,800 homes in Adamstown in addition to The Crossings town centre, parks, infrastructure, sports pitches, schools and other amenities.
In addition to the Tuath project at Aderrig, Evara is also in the process of completing 80 new apartments for Tuath at St Helen’s Plaza in Adamstown while Evara recently received planning permission for a major new 877 housing and apartment development at Adamstown Boulevard.
The latest announcement comes at a time of sustained growth for Evara. Backed by global investment firm TPG, the company is investing €2 billion to deliver more than 7,000 new homes over the next five years. Evara has delivered more than 3,000 homes to date in the Greater Dublin Area and is targeting a new annual output of 1,500 homes.
Tuath is one of Ireland’s leading AHBs, currently managing more than 17,500 homes nationally, including more than 2,000 cost rental homes, providing secure, long-term housing to some 42,000 people in every county nationwide.
This latest project further strengthens the ongoing partnership between Evara and Tuath, which also includes a number of Part V transactions completed across Evara’s wider land portfolio.
Michael Hynes, Chief Executive Officer of Evara, said: “This is an exciting announcement for Evara and a further strengthening of our existing relationship with Tuath Housing. Once complete, this apartment development will offer residents a high standard of living at the heart of Adamstown. Evara has been central to delivering new homes, infrastructure and amenities at Adamstown, including The Crossings town centre, and we are pleased to see new developments and their new occupants adding to the vibrancy of what is already a great community.”
Martin Loughran, Chief Development & Commercial Officer of Tuath, said: “This partnership with Evara will support the delivery of 355 high-quality homes in Adamstown, ensuring long-term housing security and affordability for those in need. By working closely with delivery partners and supporting construction, we can accelerate supply while achieving value for money and building sustainable, well-connected communities.”
