“We can cater for everything from a dripping tap to a 40-house scheme,” managing director Dan Desmond explains.
“We have a good mix of work going on and are constantly adding to our list of services. Our aim is to be a one-stop shop for all your plumbing and heating requirements. No job is too big or small.”

From humble beginnings in 2021, DD Plumbing & Heating has grown to employ a highly-skilled team who are supported and supplemented by the same tried and trusted subcontractors. The company also has a fleet of vehicles on the road serving customers across the Munster region.
“Our growth has exceeded expectations,” says Dan who, at 28 years of age, is an old head on young shoulders.
“I served my time as a plumber with Micheál Murphy of Murphy Renewables and stayed with him for 18 months after qualifying. I then decided to go out on my own, initially relying on small jobs locally. We’ve since grown into a multi-faceted operation with a large and loyal client-base. Most of our business is secured through word of mouth and recommendations from existing customers.”
Dan adds: “I’m very grateful for all the support I’ve received from family, my team, subcontractors, builders, suppliers and customers. I have a great team of honest, hard-working and courteous lads who have played a huge part in our growth. The business would be nothing without them.
“We organise regular training days to keep abreast of the latest developments and technology, and have half-year and Christmas parties. The lads bring their partners to the Christmas party and it’s always an enjoyable occasion.
“I’ve also got great support from home from my parents John and Geraldine, and my partner Eva. After 18 months in business, local builders gave us an opportunity to price smaller jobs, and we grabbed it with both hands. That led to larger installations on new-build projects and housing developments. We work closely with builders, developers and main contractors to deliver complete plumbing solutions that meet the highest industry standards and project timelines.
“But at the end of the day, we appreciate and value the small jobs every bit as much as the bigger ones. We stand over everything we do. Furthermore, it would be remiss of me not to mention the two local hardware providers in Kanturk – Burke’s HomeValue and Burton’s Topline – for giving me store credit to help me get started. I’m a strong believer in supporting local businesses and jobs.”
