Delivering the highest standard of safety and quality

26 Jul , 2021

One of Ireland’s leading mechanical, electrical & maintenance contracting companies, Tritech Engineering Ltd marks 21 years in business this year. Building Ireland touched base with its Managing Director, Joe Delaney to learn the latest about the Dublin-based firm, including its latest success at the annual NISO Awards.

Since its inception in 1999, Tritech Engineering Ltd has established itself as a leading multi-disciplined projects company which has gained significant experience across a wide range of business sectors.

The company offers its clients a full range of Mechanical, Electrical and Maintenance Services, including Engineering, Project Management, Design & Build, Construction, Asset Management, PPM, 24/7 reactive maintenance and validation.

Currently operating with 180 staff, the business is headquartered in Baldonnell Business Park, Dublin 22 and works alongside the top building firms in the country, including the likes of Sisk, John Paul Construction, MAC Group & Structuretone.

Building Ireland caught up with Managing Director, Joe Delaney in the early part of 2021 to find out all about the company – from its origins to the state of business today.

“In the last couple of years, we have relocated to a new premises in Baldonnell Business Park which has given us the space to expand our operations, accommodate the growth in staff numbers and facilities to grow our off site fabrication and modular construction practices,” Joe outlined.

“I myself was MEBSCA President and chairman of M&ECA for the last two years and I just finished my term.

“As far as other recent news goes, we’re also delighted to report that we have a new director coming on board in our electrical division. He’s a guy called Chris Duffy and he’ll be coming on board with us in March.”

Indeed, March saw Chris Duffy appointed as Operations Director of Tritech Engineering Ltd’s Electrical Services Division.

Chris himself has held senior executive roles with mid and large sized multi-disciplinary services contractors and he brings over 40 years’ experience gained working across all sectors of the industry in both Ireland and UK.

His leadership, expertise and knowledge will ensure continued delivery of strong performance-based results for Tritech Engineering’s clients, as well as capitalising on emerging opportunities to deliver new added value for clients.

Speaking on becoming part of the Tritech team, Chris Duffy himself recognised it as an excellent opportunity.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team here at Tritech,” he stated.

“It’s a great opportunity to join an excellent forward-thinking company and I’m looking forward to contributing to the company’s growth plans and assisting in the delivery of our modern methods of construction policy.”

Joe Delaney also commented on behalf of the Board: “Chris brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this important role, and has an exceptional track record in operational leadership. His appointment reflects the ambition of the Board of Tritech to grow our position in the industry and to continue providing excellent customer service across all our divisions. On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Chris to Tritech.”

Tritech Engineering has a multi-discipline project approach when it comes to its electrical division and its one which has enabled the company to build a team of professionals with the qualifications, experience and passion to deliver complex electrical engineering projects.

The company has built up invaluable experience over the past two decades and it goes to show given the current state of business, even in the midst of a global pandemic.

“Right now, we have a good bit of work on with the HSE, which are essential projects,” Joe explained.

“We also have work in the pharmaceutical and other sectors, so altogether we still have 60 percent work during this lockdown and we have to commend the CIF for the work that they’ve done in 2020 and are now continuing to do.”

Last year also saw Tritech Engineering transition over to becoming ISO 45001 officially accredited as Health & Safety continues to be the company’s top priority.

Carrying out projects to the highest standard of safety and quality has always been the chief objective for Joe Delaney and fellow directors Peter Keane (Maintenance & QEHS) and Tom Comerford (Commercial), and they see it as being paramount to Tritech’s continued success.

“As a company, we offer mechanical, electrical and maintenance services so we’ve built our reputation to be able to work on all sorts of projects,” Joe stated.

“People recognise from project to project the quality that transfers over and I think that’s stood to us down through the years.”

He added: “Our philosophy has always been direct employment. We don’t take any risks and if it isn’t safe to do then a high level review is undertaken before works proceed.”

The safety team at Tritech Engineering is headed up by Niamh Dixon and Ruth Hayes, both of whom were heavily involved in the application submission for the company’s most recent National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) Award success.

Last year’s annual Safety Awards, which again recognised how organisations manage health and safety at work, may not have been the same as others given the situation with Covid-19 and government restrictions, but, nonetheless, Tritech were again incredibly proud to receive a Distinction Award in 2020.

Right now, the company is immersed in several on-going projects, including hotel developments for John Paul Construction, commercial office fit-outs for Mastercard and 3M and Health Care projects for the HSE.

Looking towards the coming months, Tritech Engineering’s MD is optimistic that the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic will improve and that the work will increase overall as the company targets further growth in its 21st year.

“I suppose we’re all focused on numbers these days and we’re confident that we can get the remainder of our works back going again,” said Joe.

“Hopefully, the management of Covid becomes less of a burden to us. We’d have a strong pipeline of works going on until the end of 2023 as it stands.

“So, hopefully we can continue that and continue our growth here.”
