Celebrating 21 years in business, Drumlargan Construction Ltd is an exceptional family-run contracting firm specialising in new home developments, commercial fitouts and fire remediation.
Consistency, quality and innovation are the hallmarks of the Summerhill, Co. Meath-based company which was founded in June 2004 by Kilcock brothers David and Richard O’Neill. Taking its name from a local townland, Drumlargan Construction’s portfolio includes varying types and styles of residential and commercial properties. Bringing a unique approach to every project, the contractor works directly with its clients and focuses on whole life cycle construction management along with delivering new build and commercial fitout projects.
“We both spent time working in America before returning home to set up this company,” David explains.
“I’m a bricklayer by trade, while Richie’s background is in carpentry and painting. From humble beginnings, we now employ eight people directly and many more on a subcontract basis. It all started when a cousin of ours asked us to put an extension on his house in 2004 and it took off from there.
“We progressed from small residential extensions to commercial fitouts and fire remediation work. We used to be 80% commercial and 20% residential, but that has now closed to 60% commercial and 40% residential. We’re building the residential side of things bit by bit.”
Having completed a small development of three houses in Kill, Co. Kildare a few years ago, Drumlargan Construction is currently carrying out its largest residential project to date at St Jude, Trim Road, Summerhill. The prestigious development consists of 13 A1-rated terraced houses in four separate blocks and all landscaping, boundary treatment works, drainage connections, site and groundworks. Six of the houses are four-bed, eight are three-bed, while the existing house known as St Jude is being converted into two two-bed apartments.
The scope of works also includes the remodelling and widening of the existing vehicular entrance from the R158 to create a shared surface access road and a new pedestrian and cycle access point to Cherry Court Estate to the south of the development. Additional works include the provision of vehicular access, solar panels at roof level, all landscaping, boundary treatment works, new drainage connections to public foul and surface water mains as well as all associated and ancillary sites and groundworks.
“We started work last September and hope to be finished by June. We’re collaborating with architect Kruger Lyons and building consultants ORS on this project, and have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with them as well as with our subcontractors and suppliers,” David explains.
“We also recently completed a large commercial fitout in Central Park, Sandyford for Henderson Park and another fitout for Butler’s Chocolates at their warehouse in Clonshaugh.”
From concept to completion, David and Richard are with you every step of the way, ensuring that your new project is designed and built to your specific needs and to the highest standard. Whether your next project is a new build, extension or commercial fitout, their one-stop shop approach will ensure that both the design and building processes are smooth, comfortable and hassle-free. The Co. Meath contractor’s reputation for high quality construction and ability to complete projects on time and within the agreed budget is borne out by the high volume of repeat business and referrals it receives from design teams and scores of satisfied customers.
By employing highly-skilled people, working closely with subcontractors, engineers and architects, using only the very best building products and adhering to stringent Health & Safety standards, this fully-insured company is able to deliver projects that not only meet, but exceed expectations.
“We work with some of Ireland’s most respected architects, incorporating cutting-edge design features and state-of-the-art technology. We have long-standing relationships with our clients and subcontractors who share our mission to deliver reliability and unrivalled attention to detail.
“Our regular subcontractors include WD Electrical, John Corcoran Plumbing & Heating, Power Plus Electrical, T Lynch Roofing and Ciaran Howlett Plant Hire, while our main suppliers are Chadwicks in Robinhood Industrial Estate, Cleary’s Topline in Kilcock, Summerhill Hardware, Kilsaran and Moyglare Sand & Gravel, which is owned by our brother Christy O’Neill.”
Furthermore, Drumlargan Construction are experts in fire protection, fireproofing remediation and retrofit contract completion. The company supplies inhouse training teams throughout Ireland to install industry-standard fireproof exterior cladding systems and rainscreen cladding façade systems. It is an installer of Permarock which is the leading external wall insulation (EWI) and specialist render system designer, manufacturer and supplier in the UK and Ireland.
These systems incorporate non-combustible stone wool insulation in the form of rigid boards which are directly attached to the wall face, without a cavity, using a combination of adhesive bonding and mechanical fixing. Speed of application means costs are lower with considerably less waste and clean up required.
Apartment fire remediation, refurbishment post remediation and basement fire remediation are also part of the service.
As Drumlargan Construction continues to go from strength to strength, David and Richard would like to take this opportunity to thank their clients, suppliers and design teams for their unwavering support as well as their team and subcontractors for their hard work, dedication and expertise.
Here’s to the next 21 years!
